The Bond of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richm nd, Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday, August 27th, 1943, at 9:00 o'clock A. M. --- Earl Keisker & Winfield, Urban being present the following proceedings were had to-wit; c The reading of the minutes of the n_receding meeting was'dispensed with; • On the recommendation of _.Street Supt..Ka.rl Meyers. ; the Board ordered the proper legal advertising be had for the riurchn.s of S new tires for the use of the Street Deaprtment; and instructed the Clerk to contact not less than three dealers for proposals designating September 10th, 1943, et 9:30 o'clock A. M. as the time for the receiving of bids or -proposals for the seme - On the recommendation of Police Chief Duckett the Board approved the necessary mace for a Bus Zone on'-the East Side of North Eight Street near the Di ci-z.rson Truot Building f,or the purpose of 'loading and unloading passengers-riding-on-Special-:Bases to the various factories in the City; the-Board also instructed the Street Deaprtment to place signs at that 'location designating the same and bill the Busy Com-oa.ny for the proper amount. Fire Chief Harry Williams recommended to the Board that a letter be sent to the Richmond Grs Corporation by the Clerk , notifying their employees to be more careful in their construction work where the Fire Alarm System is installed, stating the cable had been dataged several times lately seemingly through carelessness. The Board approved therecommendation of of the Fire Chief and instructed the Clerk to notify the Gas Company of the action of the Board. • Proper advertising hairingebten°madri.for the eced•i ink'`of tds?:for the.•rebai ' Of- the, roof on the digester a.t the Disposal Plant August 20th, 1943, end there being no bids presented on-the recommendation cf Edwin Poss Superintendent of the Disposal Plant the Board accepted the proposal bf Ev W. Benfeldt to repair the said building for the sum of $565.00, this acceptance being on the advice of Otto Jensen A letter was presented to the Board from Harry Gannett of the Star Piano Company , stating the drain from the South End of the C & (8 track to the river has been filed up by the dump so that this water is now running down into the drain close to the factory building at the South end of the concrete building and some times runs in the building. The dump at the North End' is as wide as we care to have it. The roadway from South 5th Street to our plant is very narrow and. insecure at the South End of the same and we would suggest that the sewer coming in from South 5th Street be covered over so that the dump could be made from South 5th.
