The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board , July 23rd, 1943. at 9!00 osclock A. M. --S. W. Hodgin, Earl Keisker and Winfield Urban being '`';resent the following proceedings were had. to-wit , the minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved . A letter was presented to the Board addressed td City Controller Winfield Urban as follows; Dear Sir y You wrote me recently about the bill of Ellwood Richardson, City Fireman, for services rendered him at the Reid. Memorial Hospite , s.nd asked that we forgive this bill Rs he had been injured while fighting the John Graf fire, I discussed the matter at, the last meeting of the Hospital Board, , and we decided to cancel the bill.. r In addition to this the Board of Trustees adopted a resolution to the effect that when City Firemen or. Policemen are injured in the line of duty the Hospital will grant them free Hospital. Service, the character and extent of the service to be determined by the Hospital Superintendent, having regard to the nnture of the injury and the tync of service required. You will understand that this does not cover doctor bills , as we do not employ the doctors. It will cover,however, the room service, X-r^ys at the Hospital, end the like.
