The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, met in the office of said. Board, July 16th_, 1943 , qt
9:00 o'clock A. M, Messrs. S. W. Hodgin, Earl Keisker and- Winfield
11/ Urban being Present the following proceedings were had to-wit;
• The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved.
On the recommendation of Fire Chief Harry Williams the Board
approved the Permanent appointment of Paul- C. Cussins as a City
Fireman t:.&take• the place of Herman Stuck , effective July 22nd,
1943, for the sum of $165 per month.. .
On the recommendation. of Police Chief. Ellis Duckett- the Board
accepted the resignation of Margaret Brisco as Police Radio Operator
effective August 1st, 1943.
On the recommendation of Police Chief Ellis Duckett the Board
approved the temnor.orye rpdintment of Grace Uphaus as Police Radio
Operator for the sum of B145.00 per month effective July 16th, 1943.
The Clerk was instructed to secure not less than three proposals
for material for the repairs of a building at the Disposal.Plant, the
Board designating July 30th, .1943;7at '9630 Ocrock".AteMe as the date
n-•1 the time when such proposals shall be given consideration
A Petition was presented to the Board with the names of 14 interested
citizens requesting a Street Light be installed at the East End. of
Park Avenue stating that there was no light closer than Henley Road and
that the rough condition of the Street made it danger.ous 'especiaily at
night to tratel on foot, also that that location had become the loitering
grounds for petting parties and undesireable persons and that it was un-
patroled by the police. The matter of the request for the light to be in-
stalled was referred to Light Plant-Superintendent Stevens and the condition
of the street was referred to Street Superintendent Meyers.
After allowing claims in the amount of $14,543.92 on proper motion
they adjourned,
