THE BOARD OF WORKS CITY 0I' RICH'MOND,INDIANA, FRIDAY ,, APRIT 2ND, 1943. • The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Ind- iana, met in the office of said Board, Friday , April 2nd, 1943 at 9:00 o'clock A. M. S. W. Hodgin , Keisker and Winfield Urban being present the following proceedings were had. to-wit; - The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved. On, the recommendation of Fire Chief Harry Williams the Board app- roved the temporary appointment of Holly Robert Clevenger as City Fireman to take the place of Rolland Miller who was granted a leave of absence from the Fire Department to join the Armed services of the United States Government effective April 1st, 1943, The ,Board' approved Clevenger's Appointment as of April 16th,19)+3, he to serve the usual probationary period of six months for the sum of $160.00 per month. ' On the recommendation of Police Chief Ellis Duckett the Board accepted the resignationof Dalton E. Stephson from the Police Department effective April 1st, 1943. A petition was presented to the Board by ten interested citizens requesting the name of of a portion of Northwest Sixth Street be changed_ to Sedgwick Place, the same being referred to City Engineer Hodgin for aaater report. Mr. Don. Bell was present in the interest of Pirel'Insurance on - house and garage on the ground purchased for the use of the Airport and the Board instructed Mr. Bell to cover such buildings by fire insurance in the amount of $2,300.009 for a period of one year. The Board instructed the Clerk to notify Council acting as a committee operating the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant that the Street Department be permitted to have all the cinders created at ht the Light Plant. Mayor Britten appeared before the Board and complimented both the Fire Department & the Police-Department on the matter of the personal service rendered by the men in both departments for washing the walls and painting such places as was necessary.
