The Board of Public Works and safety of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, met in the office of said Board Friday, February 19th,
1943, at 9:00 o'clock A. M. S. W. Hodgin,Farl Keisker and Winfield
Urban being present the following proceedings were had to-wit;
The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved.
The following letter was presented to the Board- -from the Rich-
Fire and Casualty Insurance Association:
Gentlemen;
We are listing below the members of the Richmond Fire
and Casualty Insurance Association in good standing , who,-have received
commissions in the manner set forth by your organization last year.
This concerns distribution of commissions from the bondls and insur-
ance handled for the City of Richmond, Indiana, effective as of the
above date.

The following resolution was presented to the Board from the State
Highway Commission in accordance with the approval of the Board of
Public Works and Safety of a Two Hour Parking Zone on the East Side
of Ft. Wayne Avenue in the 106 block.
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Under the provisions of Section 3 Chapter 12 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of the State of Indiana of 1941. entitled An Act Abolishing
the State Highway Commission: Creating the State Highway Commission of
Indiana; and providing for the appointment of 'its members; providing new
duties therefore; repealing all laws and parts of laws in conflict here-
with ; rendering null and void all executive orders. in contravention hereof;
and declaring an ymergency and fixing a time when the act shall take effect,
The State Highway Commission of Indiana is authorised to make such rules
and regulations as may be necessary to protect from harm the passengers
traveling on the State highways
Be it resolved that the following section be added to item 5 of
the r=solution of July 21, 1941, regulating parking in Richmond:

5(c) On the Southeast side of Ft. Wayne Avenue betweem Seventh
and Eighth Streets.
The ad:i'tio*+ ,,f this section limits parking in the area set out
to two hours in any three hour period between seven A. M. and six
P. M. on any day except Sunday or holidays.

A favorable inspection of the Boiler in Glenn Miller Park by
the Travlers Insurance Co. representative was presented to the Board.
The Board authorized the purchase of 500 feet of Fire Hose for the
use of the Fire Department from Harry Supthen, Buckeye Brand with coup-
lings for the sum of $625.00.
On the recommendation of Fire Chief Harry Williams the Board accep-
ted the resignation of Harry Aikin from the Fire Department in compliance
with the State Statutes, effective February 23rd, 1943.
On the recommendation of Fire Chief Harry Williams the Board approved
the appointment of Everett H. Biddle as a City Fireman to serve as a temp-
orary fireman and the usual probationary period ®$-of six months for the
sum of $ per month effective February 21st, 1943•
The Board authorized the purchase of the necessary material to paint
and varnish the rooms used by the Police Department in the City Building.
After allowing claims in the amount of $ 5,386.81 on proper motion
they adjourned.
