The Board of Public .Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday, January Sth, 1943, at 9:00 o'clock A. M. Messrs. S. W. Hodgin, Enri Keisker and Winfield Urban being present the following proceedings were had to-wit; The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved. Mr. S. W. Hodgin was unanimously elected as Chairman of the Board of Public Worker & Safety for the year 1943. The following letter was presented to the Board Dear Sir; I hereby tender you my resignation as fireman of the City of Richmond, Indiana, effective January 9th, 1943, . In doing so I wish to thank all City officials for their kindness during my fifteen years of service. Yuors Respectfully Signed; Russell M. Sullivan On the recommendation of Fire Chief Harry Williams the Board unani- mously accepted the resignation of Russell M. Sullivan from the Fire Department of the City of Richmond, Indiana,;,.effective of the said date. Councilman Georgr Brehm appeared before the Board requesting that an ordinance be prepared and presented to Council in regard to the enforce- ment of trash containers be 1: ed by business houses and etc. On the recommendation of: the:.Traffic Division the Board rejected the request of the Goodrich Silvertown Stores located at 19 South 9th Street for a no parking zone to be established in front of their store to be used for tire inspection purposes. The Board unanimously apnrovec?. , that a request be made to Post- master Fred B. Picket toc.re-establish .a Mail Box on or near the Northeast corner of 5th and Main Streets for the collection of out going mail and authorized the Clerk to notify Mr. picket of such re- quest. Friday, January 8th, 1943, at 9°30 A. M. being the time and the date designated by the Board for the receiving of bids on three cars for the use of the Police Department of the City of Richmond, Indiana, pursuant to legal advertisement in the Richmond Palladium December 21st, and 28th, 1942, and there being no bids presented the Board instructed the Chief of Police to make a survey to see if cars can be purchased and to report his findings to the Board. . faj After allowing claims in the amount of $10,903.17 on proper motion they adjourned.
