HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-18-1942 348 OFFICE OF THE BOARD' or WORKS CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY, DECEMBER 18th, 1942.. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday, December 18th, 1942; at 9:00 o'clock A. M. Messrs. Winfield Urban, S. W. Hodgin and Earl Keisker being present the following proceedings were had to-wit; The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved. On the recommendation of the Fire Chief Harry Williams,Rolf Wadman was granted a leave of absence from the Fire Department to join the service of the Armed Forces of the United States Government effective December 16th, 1942. On the recommendation of Fire Chief Harry Williams the Board ordered the installation of- a Fira2Hydi±ant on South H Street betw- een the C & 0 Rail Road and South 7th Street, the location being subject to the approval of the Fire Chief. ' The Board approved the following men on the various departments to act as Tire Inspectors; Thomas Griffin ofrth°L Street Dept4• &LDispo`sal Plant, Louis Daniels of the Police Department, Roy Hardy-m of the Fire Department and Walter Castle of the Light Plant said men to apply to the Tire Ration Board for their approval,as inspectors for City Motor Vehicles,subject to-the direction of the Mayor of the City, for inspection purposes. The Board ordered the proper legal advertisement be made; for the purchase of Three Cars for the use of the Police Department subject to specifications recommended by the Police Chief Ellis Duckett with a trade in allowance for Three 1941 Coach,Ford ears No. 6,282,319-- 6,282,282--- and 6,263,293 respectively bidders proposals will be accepted for consideration January 8th, 1943,. at 9:30 o'clock A. M. at the office of the Board. - The Trffic Division reported on the complaint offered by Lillian Shofer located at 7th and South A.. Street in regard to congested parking conditions on. the account of the 1)are Bus Lines, that wartime travel had created such conditions that it was impossible to remedy the matter at this time. By the approval of the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, at a-Committee operating the Light Plant of the said City at their r..egUlar meeting December 7th, 1942, City Attorney Keisker presented the following article which the Board unanimously adopted and approved. HWEREAS, a descrepency has existed for more than thirty years in the property boundary line along the South boundary of the property owned by the City of Richmond, Indiana, and now occupied by the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant offices at No. 32 South 8th Street Richmond, Indiana, and, WHEREAS, it is necessary to fix said boundary line determining .the deviding line between said real estate and the property to the South owned by the Harrington Heirs now therefore, BE IT RSOLVED , that the City of Richmond execute it's deed as of this day and date to the following described real estate ,to-wit; (cont'd) 349 (contd from page- 34S) - A part of the North Half of Lot No. (11) in Charles W. Starr's Fourth Addition to the City of Richmond. Wayne County, State of Indiana, beginning at a point in the West Line of South 8th Street in said City , six (6) feet and Eight (8) inches South of the North Line of said Lot Number Eleven (11) ; thence West One Hundred and Twenty-Five (125) feet to the East Line of a public alley; thence North One and 42/100 (1.42) feet; thence East One Hundred and Twenty- Five (125) feet to the West Line of South 8th Street; thence South One and 4+2/100 (1.4+2) feet to the place of beginning. To said Harrington Heirs reserving unto said City a perpetual easment from, South 8th Street to the sidewalk running along the South edge of said Light Plant Office.
