CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,
OCTOBER 16TH, 1942.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, mft in the office of said Board, Friday, October 16th,
1942, at 9'OO o'clock A. M. Winfield Urban S, W. Hodgin and Earl
Keisker being present the following proceedings were had to-wit;
The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved.
The following letter was presented to tie Board;
Gentlemen; I Daniel Johnson being u member of the Richmond,
Police Department wish at this time to ask for a leave of absence
from the said Police Department as of October 16th, 19142 so that
I may enter the service of the armed forces of the United States
Navy for the duration of the war and such time thereafter that may
be required to gain my release from such armed forces.
This request to be in effect as of October 19th 19142 which date
I am to be sworn into the United States Navy at Indianapolis, Indiana.

The Board unanimously approved the leave of absence requested
by Daniel E. Johnson for the purpose of entering the armed forces
of the United States'Navy,-Effective October 19th, 19)42 subjet to
his acceptance in the Navy.
On the recommendation of the Traffic Division the Board ordered
a Ho parking Zone be established on the North side of Railroad Street
for a distance of 75 feet East-of."No th 16th•.Street.
The Board approved the sale of old scrap iron collected from the
various departments and ordered the proper legal advertisement be made
notifying junk dealers of the same,designating October 23rd at 9;30
P. M. as the time and the date bids would be received for the same
at the office- of the Board , in the City Building.
After allowing claims in the amount of $1,086.24 on proper
motion they adjourned.
