The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana., met in the office of said Board-, Friday,October 9th, 1942 , at 9:00 -o'clock A. M. Messrs. Winfield Urban, .S. U. Hod. ',n_ and r'rl Keisker being present the following proceedings were had .to-%-it; The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Bids for shades by the La.wlers Drapery & Speciality Shop for the Council Chamber .^nI the Controllers Office w-re presented as follows shades 327 inch--roller & 9 feet length North Star or Blackout $2.25 each or excello shade $1.79 each. Other bids which had been presented previously were considered and the matter .taken under advisement. Fire Chief Harry Williams called- attention to dumping of trash at the dump along the Boulevard, stating it would take to much hose and eouipnment in case of fire at that location, the matter being taken under advisement-' -' The Board approved the permanent-apnoittmei t 'of-.Henry"Clark as City Fireman he having servea the usual probationary period renuired, at the regular salary of S150,00 ner month, effective October 1st, 1942. On the recommendation of Police Chief Ellis Duckett the Board approved the anointment of William Y. Stultz 135 South Easthaven Avenue as Police Officer for the usual probationary period of 6 months at a, salary of S145.00 per month. ?•^.r. Winfield Urban recommended that•the,:old scrap metal be collected in the old Morton High School by the Street Department and be sold as soon as possible , the same being annroved by the Board. A reouest by the Indiana Tool Company for a no parking zone to be established East of Worth 16th Street on Railroad Street for the purpose of a1 lowing trucks to reach their loading platform was referred to the Traffic Division for a report later. • After allowing claims in the amount of S24,951.61 on proper motion they - - adjourned.
