HomeMy Public PortalAbout07-03-1942 324 OFFICE OF THE BORAD OF WORKS CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JULY 3rd, 194+2 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday July 3rd, 1942, at 9:r)0 A. M. Winfield Urban, S. W. Hodgin and Earl Keisker being present the following proceedings were had to-wit; The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved. Mr. Bill Campfield appeared before the Board requesting per- mission to place a booth on the side-walk at 7th and Main Streets infromt of the Woolworth Building;on Saturdays to..be .used- byevarious Womens Organizations for the sale of War Stamps and Bonds. The Board unanimously approved the same . Mr. Don Bell appeared before the Board in the matter of War Risk insurance. A complaint was presented to the Board in regard to the heighth of the hedge located at the Northeast Corner of West Main Street and Easthaven Avenue which obstructs the view of traffic comming from the north toward Main Street,the same being referred to the City Engineer and the Street Commissioner. On the recommendation of Police Chief Duckett the Board approved the permanent appointment of Harold Snyder as Police Officer at a salary of $150.00 per month, effective July 1st, 1942. _ On the recommendation of the Tarffic Division the Board authorized a no barking zone established on the South Side of South B Street between South 7th and Sth Street and ordered signes be place at that location designating the same. A request for a light to be installed at the alley intersection between South 7th and Sth Streets w^.s referred to City Engineer Hodgin. A complaint in regard to the traffic and parking near the intersection of South 3rd and A Streets was referred to the Traffic Division. A complaint in regard to heavy truck traffic down South 16th street was referred to the Traffic Division, . v%^ lOn the recommendation of the Police Chief Duckett the Board am:roved le- the appointment of Glenn Fisher as Police Radio Operator temporarly at a salary of $145.00 per month, effective July 1st, 1942.
