HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-05-1942 317 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY,- JUNE 5TH, 1942. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday June 5th, 1942, at 9:00 o'clock A. M. .Winfield Urban, S. W. .Hodgin and Earl Keisker being present the following proceedings were had to-wit; The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved. Mr. E. A. Elliott appeared before the Board requesting the Horse Shoe Drive leading off the New Paris Pike be repaired, the same being referred to the City Engineer and the Street Commiss- ioner for a report later. Mr.Kenneth Yost appeared before the Board in regard to traffic on North 17th Street through a barracade placedthere by the Street Department, also disturbance at late hours at night, the same being referred to the -City Engineer, Police Chief and the Street Comm- issioner, theyare. to make recommendation as they see fit. Mr. Ross Supt. of the Sewer Disposal Plant was authorized by the Board to comply with the Federal Order in regard to the payment - of oil drums in use at the Plant. On the recommendation of Fire Chief Harry Williams, Mr. Keisker moved that Sam Poliver be appointed as temporary Fireman if a vacancy exists in the Fire Department commencing June 10th, 1942 ,-1942, at the salary of $145.00 per month, this appointment made to fill temp- orary vacancy created because Robert Weller a regular fireman has been called to the armed forces of the United States and now awaits physical examination. :With a:-properc 8ecpndytheBoard approved the motiontunanimously,- and was so ordered. Mr. Remsey McDonald Chief Radio Operator, made a report on his trip to Hunington, Indiana, in the matter of defense information. Street Commissioner Meyers reported the overloading of Coal and :Gravel trucks was causing an un-necessary bad condition on`the Streets and the Board referred the matter to the Weights and Measures ' Inspector to make recommendation to thevarious companies to not over load the trucks used on the City Streets. A coxnvlaint was presented to the Board In regard to the condition on the sidewalk on South 20th Street From A South on the West side 11/ along the property owned by the St. Paul Lutheran Church Organization, also the weeds -on the same property along South A Street. The matter was referred to City Attorney and the City Clerk to make proper noti- �\ ffication in regard to same. City Engineer Hodgin reported proper repairs were being made on the Sewer near thr Mervin Denton Home of the New Paris Pike.
