HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-14-1942 - Special Session • OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF 'WORKS CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA • TUESDAY, APRIL 14TH, 1942. • The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in SPECIAL SESSION in the offtbce of said board , Tuesday April 14th , 1942, at 10:00 o'clock A. M. Messrs: Winfield Urban,S. W. Hodgin,and Earl. Keisker being-present the' following proceedings were had to-wit; The reading of the minutes of the preceeding meeting war dis= 11/ pensed with. Mr. Winfield Urban'President of the Board , informed those. present that <the Special meeting had been called for the purpose of awarding the Coal bids to the vatious bidders which submitted their proposals at the previous regular meeting _Rr.iday 10th, 1942, and other matters pertaining tothetBoard:for. theirs., consideration. • The Committee appointed to tabulate the Coal Bids made the following recom evdation!I{t.emNo.1 be awarded to Niewoehner - Long Corporation, 200 tons tore or::'lsss Wsot Virgihia-Nut-• Slack delivered to City -Building for the sum of $5.69 per Ton. Items 2, 3, 4, be awarded to Sam Jaffe Company delivered to the various departments , Straight Pocahontas Mine Run for the sum of $6.36 per ton, all according to specifications. Item No. 5 & 6 be awarded..to Muff. Grain and Coal Company • for 15 tons West virginia hump delivered to Park dwellings for the sum of $6.54 per tong and 10 tons Pocahontas Egg delivered to Police Radio Station for the sum of $7.4+5 per ton.' Mr. Keisker moved that the recommendation of- the Committee appointed to tabulate the Coal bids be adopted. The motion prevailed and the awards were made. - The following DECLARATORY RESOLUTION NO. 2-194+2 was presented to the Board. • RESOLVED : BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, IN THE STATE OF INDIANA, that it is desired and deemed necessary to vacate the alley between Lot No. 153 " Lot No. 154+ of John Smith's original Plattof the City of Richmond and extending from Main Street to the first alley South' thereof, in the City of Richmond, County of *ayne, and State of Indiana, which alley proposed to be vacated is more particularly described as follows, to-wit; Beginning at the Northeastcorner of Lot No. 153 of John Smith's Original Plat; thence South along 'the East line of said Lot No. 153. one hundred sixty-five (165) feet more or less to the Southeast corner thereof; thence East along the North Line of an alley, ten (10) feet to the Southwest corner of Lot No. 154+ of John Smith's Original Plat; thence North along the west line od said Lot No. 154, one hundred • • sixty-five '(165) feet more or less to the Northwest corner thereof; thence west along the. South line of .ain 6t.reet , ten (10) feet • to the place of beginning. "' (cont'd) 306 • All as shown by a plat of such proposed vacation now on file in the office of the Department of Public Works and Safety of said City. +he property which may be injuriously or benificialy affected in the said City of Richmond by said proposed vacation is known and described as the alley herein proposed to be vacated and the lots • abutting on the alley and both sides thereof, owned by Second National Bank Trustee for apart Lot No. 153 and the.Nusbaum Stores incorporated for a part of Lot No. 154. Winfield Urban S. W. Hodgin Earl Keisker Board of Public Works and Safety. Mr. Hodgin moved the adoption of the Resolution as presented with a second the motion was approved. The Board ordered the resolution be properly_advertised on April 14th and 21st, 19]42, in the local newspaper designating May 1st, 194+2 at 9:30 o 'clock as the time for the hearing of any remonstrance which might be offer against said vacation of alley.
