OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,
FRIDAY, MARCH 27TH, 1942
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday, March 27th, 1942,
at 9:00 o'clock A. M. Messrs. Winfield Urban and S. W. Hodgin
being present the following proceedings were had to-wit;
The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and approved.
On the recommendation of Fire Chief Parry Williams, the
Board appointed HBrry Clark living at 305 Southwest 4th Street,
as City Fireman he to serve the usual probationary period
of six months, effective April 1st, 1942.
Aletter was presented to the. Board from the Pennsylvania
Railroad Officials acknowledging the receipt of a. letter in
-regard to the bad condition of their crossings on Washington
Avenue and North 6th Street, stating the letter had been referred
':to Mr. A. J. Roper at Richmond , with instructions to make repa-
irs as soon as possible.
A request to cut the curb to a width of 10 feet was granted to
Joe Harvey Lot No. 901 Northwest B Street.
Fire Chief Parry Williams reported trains were being held on
the various Street crossings unsual long times making it necessary
for Fire Trucks to be delayed by taking extra routes to fires
especially at the North gth Street Crossing, the matter being re-
ferred to City Attorney Keisker.
The Clerk was instructed to prepare a notice of advertisment
to bidders for the furnishing of coal for the various departments,
bids to be received at the office of the Board April 1Oth, 1942
at 9:30 A. M.
• -After allowing claims in the amount of $6,316.27 on proper
motion they adjourned.
