OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY, 20TH, 1942
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday, February 20th,
1942, . at 9:00 o'clock A. M. Winfield Urban, S. W. Hodgin and
Earl Keisker being present the following proceedings were had
to-wit;
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved.
A letter was presented to the Board from the Richmond, Fire
• and Casualty Insurance Association:. giving-a'list Af.names who
are eligible for the equal distribution of insurance commissions
on policies written for the City of Richmond, Mr. Keisker moved
that the list of said names. of persons presented be accepted by
the Board and they receive equal distribution of ins ranee-ef
Insurance Commissions on policies written for the City of Richmond., ,
with a proper second the motion was unanimously approved.
On the. recommendation of Police Chief Ellis Duckett the Board
approved the appointment of Ivin White as first class Patrolman
at the regular salary of $150.00 per month, he having served the
necessary probationary period of six months, the same effective
as of February 16th, 1942.
On the recommendation of Police Chief Ellis Duckett the Board
approved the appointment of John T. Hill 509 Northwest 5th Street
as Police Patrolman for the usual probationary period of 6 months
at a salary. of $130.00 per month, the _same effective March let
1942.
Friday February 20th, 1942, being the day and the date desig-
nated by the Board for the receiving of bids for Fire Hose for the
use of the Fire Department- and the Sewage Di;asposal Plant , the
bids are as follows;for 600 ft. and 200 ft.more or. less size 2-s"
& 11" respectively.

Couplings to be furnished by all companies which presented
according to specifications. •
Mr. Keisker moved the+bids On the Hose be referred to
Fire Chief Williams, City Engineer Hodgin. and SuperintendentrRoss
4-ent of the Disposal Plant for tabulation; ;.the motion wao. an-oroVed
- and on- the-recommendation of..the. Committee .the Fahr.ic'FireHoseCo.
was awarded the contract for furnishing 500 feet of Fire Hose for
the use of the Fire Department size 2*" Buckeye Brand according
to specifications for the sum of $1.25 per foot. Also the -B. F.
Goodrich Co. was awarded the contract for furnishing 200 feet of
hose for the use of the Sewage Disposal Plant size' ll" Tidal Brand
for the sum of .70 cents per foot. Couplings included in both
awards.
After -allowing claims in. the amount of $11,695.57 on
proper motion they adjourned.,
