The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday, January 30th, 1942 at 9:00 A. M. Winfield Urban , S. W. Hodgin and Earl *eisker being present .the fol owing proceedings were had to-wit; The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved. • Mr. Clarence Snyder was present representing the Insurance Companies of the City and Urged the Board of PublicWorks to indorsed the policy in principal of Employeers collecting a portion of the wages of Employees by mutual consent of both,for the purpose of purchasing defense Bonds, or Stamps. After further discussion on the matter the Board unanimously adopted the following resolution; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, that the Controller of the City of the City of Richmond, Indiana, be & he hereby iswauthorized to deduct from each pay check of any City employee so authorizing him so to do in writing a 'sum of money at each pay-day as said employee may des- ignate by the aforesaid authorization for the purchase of Defense Bonds or Defense Stamps, the same being an obligation of the United States Government, And, that with such money so deducted by said authorization the Controller shall purchase said Defense Stamps or Defense Bonds and deliver the same to said employee so making said authorization. The matter of the manner of depositing trash in the alley in the rear of 105 North 9th Street was referred to City Attorney Keisker. Oh-2the:-recommendation of Fire Chief Harry Williams the Board authorized the purchase of 600 feet more or less of Fire Hose for the use of the Fire Department subject to specification with coup- lings at each end to conform with United States Tread, also on the recommendation of Edd Ross Superintendent of the Disposal Plant the Board authorized the purchase of 200 feet of l& inch Hose in fifty foot sections according to specifications,with couplings for the use of the Disposal Plant, the same to have the proper publication notifying bidders that the Board will receive sealed proposals in the office of the Board of Works at the City Building February 20th, 1942, at 9:30 A. M. The Park Superintendent was instructed to purchase the necess- ary material to water proof the decks on the new Park Pavilion. The Board unanimously adopted the following resolution; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF WORKS OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FROM THE DATE OF THIS RESOLUTION, that whenever the City Pay-checks are to be paid to all City employees falls upon a Sunday or legal holiday that the Controller of the City of Richmond be and (cant 'd) he hereby is authorized to deliver said checks to said :employees on the day preceeding said Sunday or Holiday.
