OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 26TH, 1941.

The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board ,
Friday; September 26th, . 1941, at 9:00 o ' clock A. M.
Messrs. S. W. Hodgin, Winfield Urban and Earl Keisker
being present the following proceedings were had. to-wit;
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and.
approved.

. Miss Mary Woodhurst and Mrs. Guy Milton were present
an offered a complaint about the South lath Street Park
being used by boys for football and baseball thus crea-
ting -a nuipance also stated the grass was being ruined
and the dust that was created during the games was very
d'lsagreeable. .The Board agreed to confer with the Park
Board on the matter.
The matter of collecting garbage at the hatchery
locate at 32 North 8th Street was referred to City Atty.
Keiskere
A letter was presented to the Board from property
owners on Southwest 14th Street requesting a water main
be installed from Main Street a' distance of 700 feet to
give service to homes now being constructed and to those
to -be -constructed in the future, this being referred to
the Water Works Corporation for consideration.
A letter was presented to the Board from the Richmond
Baking Co. requesting a 15 minute parking zone be estab-
lished in front of their retail store located at North
6th Street & Washington Avenue, The Board approved that
a parking zone be established as requested and that signs
be installed designating such, they to be installed at
the expense of the petitioner.
The Board approved Mrs® Ramsec®Donald who is in
charge of the Police Radio Station, attending the A. P.
C. 0. convention which is to be held in Evansville, Ind.
October the 8th & 9th, 1941.
A request by memb.ersof the Junior Chamber of Commerce
toplace a booth for the sale of tickets at the Northwest •
' corner of 8th and Main Streets was approved.
• The matter of bycycles being parked on the sidewalk in
front. of the various Theatres was discussed and referred to
the Chief of Police and City Engineer Hidgin.
A request by members of the American Legion to shoot
bombs during a parde in the City October the first was
deferred until they received permission by the State fire
Marshall as by law required.

Mr. Urban stated in as much as certain equipment to be
purchased and prepared for in the Budget for 1942 mould be
hard to get later it would be adviseable to advertise for
bids for such equipment soon, subject to delivery after •
January 1st, 1942, and. he therefore moved that this action
be complied with, the motion was second by. Keisker and was
approved by unanimous vote.
After allowing claims in the amount of $ 1,627. 1 on
proper motion they adjourned. .
