HomeMy Public PortalAbout09-08-1941 �4y OFFICE OF THE' BOARD OF WORKS CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, MONDAY SEPTEMBER 8TH, 1941 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board Monday, September 8th, 1941 at 9g00 o'clock A M. Messrs© S. W. Hodgin, Winfield Urban, and marl Keisker being . present the following proceedings were had to-wit; The Board of Public Works and Safety met 'in Special session on Monday September 8th on account of most members being absent from the City attehding the Muni- cipal League Convention at Michigan City on the reg- ular meeting date Friday,September 5th, 1941. The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved. Fire Chief Harry Williams reported a glass had been broken in a sky light at the old High School Bldg. causing a bad leak. ' The Board instructed Mr. Ross Supt. of the Disposal Plant to place signs near the bridge North of the Plant requesting .people not to shoot toward the Disposal Plant. Mr. Jesse Shoemaker was present and offered an object- ion to the erection of a church to be located at the South- east corner of Southwest Fourth and D Streets, the same being referred to the Building Inspector. On the recommendation of the Traffic Division the Board approved a zone for a Taxi Stand by the Anderson Taxi Cab Co. located in front of NO. ' 11-:& 15 North 7th Street, and ordered the Street Department to install signs designating the same. The Board requested an estimate be presented for the cone struction of a Transmitter at the Police Radio Station for re- serve power in case of an emergency. On the recommendation of Fire Chief Harry Williams the Board approved the installation of a Fire Alarm. Box on North Fifteenth between North-E .Street and the Rail Road. A report from the principals of the various schools of the City was presented 'in regard to the necessary signs need- ed for the safeguard of the School Children and referred to the Traffic Division. The Board approved the purcase of a portable drill & vice by the Street Department for the sum of 35.00. A complaint in regard to the sewer in'Jthe alley between South ' . th and 17th Streets in the first square was referred to the Street Department.
