The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board., • Friday, August 15th, 1941, at 9:00 o'clock 0. .M. Messrs. S. W. Hodgin Winfield Urban. and Earl Keisker being present the following proceedings were had to-wits • The minutes _of the preceeding meeting were read and approved. Attorney Z. J. Stanley was present representing a groupe • of citizens which had signed a petition for the removal of a baracade which had been placed at the end of North 17th Street, the Board taking the matter under further advise- ment. • On the recommendation of Fire Chief Harry Will iame the Board approved Rolf Wadman as a _permanentFireman having served the necessary propationary, period, at the- regular salary of S150.00 per month, also the promotion of Charles Bostick as Lieutenant on the Ariel Truck at the regular salary of $155.00 per momth, effective beginning August 16th, 1941. The Board approved Fire Chief Harry Williams attending the International Convention of Fire Chiefs at Boston Massachutes. The Traffic Division reported there could be no action taken in a request for a parking zone in front of Mrs Kelley' s Bak4 ery located at 20S South 8th Street. On recommendation of Police Chief Ellis Duckett the Board approved the appointment of Ievin White as a member of the . Police Department to serve the usual probationary period of • 6 months at a salary of $130.00 per month. The Board ordered the no paring signs 'be installed on the North side of South E Street from South 5th to South 9th Streets as provided for in the, Traffic Ordance. On the recommendation of City Controller Urban the Board • approved the following motion ;that • the Board ofrPublic Worka`.and Safety authorize .tie Controller' s Office to pay .salaries for the last half of August, on August 30th, 1941, on account of the,'fact that Monday September the first is Labor Day and the",rfore a legal Holiday. • Street .Commissioner Meyers recommended the curb be cut back at the Northeast corner of Sheridan Street and the Doran Bridge A request to cut the Curb was granted to Foster Armstrong • locate .at 807 Northwest A Street. • • The Board adopted the Assessment roll in the matter of opening alleys .on Northwest 17th Street in accordance with (cont ' d 245 Declaratory Resolution No, 7-1941, and designated August 29th at 9:30 o ' clock as the date when any objection may be heard on the same, 'After allowing claims in the amount of $3,053.36 on proper motion they adjourned.
