HomeMy Public PortalAbout07-11-1941 232 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WOS CITY OF RICE-Th OND, INDIANA, FRIDAY, JULY 11TH, 1941.. • The Board or ruche '4rorks and Safety of the City of Richmond Indiana, met in the office of said Board Friday, July llth, ' 1941, at 9 :00 A. M. Messrs. S. W. Hodgin, Winfield Urban and Earl Keisker being present the following proceedings were had to-wit ; The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved. Mrs. Mary Lopresti was present in regard to the con- cession at:, the'.ball parks. The Board ordered the proper legal advertising for bids on scrap iron and steel rails. Repairs at the disposal plant pumping station on the west side was referred to City Engineer, Hodgin. Carol Porter, manager of the Packer Advertising Company, was present in the interest of installing a billboard south of Richmond Ave. at the west end of the Doran Bridge on city property. The same being referred to the City Attorney and the Traffic Division. The Board approved a city dumping ground south of the Starr Piano Company with entrance at south 5th and ' & 0 Rail- o.ad • The Board recommended that there be no charges against the gas company for fills in the street on northwest A Street . The Board ordered a barracade be placed at 16th and South- west G 'Street to prevent any dumping at that location at this time. On the recommendation of Mayor Britten the Board accepted the resignation of Charles Hart as Street Commissioner and approved the appointment o1 Karl Meyers as Street Commissioner, John Schneider as assistant Street Commissioner in charge of streets, alleys, and other facilities pertaining thereto, and Herman Marker as Assistant Street Commissioner in charge of Trash and Garbage Collection with salaries of 2, 100.00, 1,800.00, and 1,800.00, respectively. Mr. Karl Meyers also to be in charge of the Clerical Work, all effective as of July 16th, 1941. , The Board approved the appointment of Ernest D. Federico as City Fireman, he to serve the usual probation period. Effective July 16th, 1941. Permission to cut a tree located in a parkway at 225 South 1¢th Street was referred to Park Superintendent Joseph Frisby. 233 The Board approved additional insurance provided for under the comprehensive form pursuant to letter of July 8, 1941 to Richmond Fire & Casualty Insurance Association from Harrington & Hoch, Inc. so far as it applies to the City of Richmond . The Board ordered the proper legal advertising for coal bids. The same to be received July 25th, 1941 at the office of the I Board of Works at 9 :30 A. M. Clyde 71. Reece ---- , _ ._ _ of the Nazarene Church, was granted permission by the Board to place a tent- in Clear Creek Park west of the Police Radio Station for a period of 15 days. The same to be placed in a way as to prevent as much parking on Main Street as possible.
