OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS
CITY OF RICI iROND, INDIANA,
MONDAY,. JUNE 30th, 1941
A called meeting of the Board of Public Works and
Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office
of said Board Monday, June 30th, 1941, at 9 :00 o ' clock
A. M. Those present were S. W. Hodgin, Winfield Urban and
Earl Keisker. The following proceedings were heard®
The motion was made and carried that the minutes of
the preceeding meetinfte read. The minutes having been
read they were duly approved.
The Board ordered the next meeting be held July 3rd,
1941, at 9 :00 o 'clock A. M. in the office of the Board
as the regular meeting day was a National Holiday.
A Declaratory Resolution was presented by Clarence
Brown on behalf of the Dille-McGuire Company asking for
vacation of an alley, described as follows :
Beginning at the Southeast corner of Lot Number 362
in Elizabeth Starr's second addition to the City of
Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana, on the West side of
North 13th Street in said City, running thence West
along the South side of said lot 362 extended approx-
imately 185 feet to the Northeast corner of lot 354
in said Addition; thence south 20 feet ; thence East
parallel with said South line of said Lot 362 in said
Addition, approximately 185 feet to the West line of
North 13th Street ; thence North 20 feet to the place
of beginning.
It was moved and seconded that the Declaratory Resolu-
tion be adopted. It was unanimously carried and so ordered.
All Departmental heads were instructed to deliver to
the Board of Works an itemized list of all automobile
equipment .
Earl Keisker moved that the Richmond Fire and Casualty
Insurance Association through. its representative, Don Bell,
be authorized to renew such fire and extended coverage
policy as expired on July 1st., 1941, to meet the conditions
of the city and that such fire and extended poverage policy
be issued covering the new pavilion in Glen Miller Park, the
same being approved.
The Board ordered the proper legal advertising be had
in thg vacation of the alley on North 13th Street Elizabeth
Starr,,s Add. designating July 25th 194+1 at 9'30 A. M as the
time for the hearing of any objections or remonstrance to
the same.

Chief of Police, Ellis Duckett, recommended the
installation of a reflector stop light at the intersection
of Bridge Avenue and lhitewater Boulevard to regulate
traffic on Bridge Avenue.

The Chief of Police also recommended the install-
ation of a reflector stop light at the intersection of
Northwest T and Bridge Avenue to control traffic on
Northwest T Street.
It was also recommended by the Chief of Police that
a parking zone be allowed in front of the office, resi-
dence of Dr. J. C. Clawson at 130 So. 7th Street.
Parking zone allowance was also recommended by the
Chief of Police in frontof the Public Health Nursing
Service at 26 So. 7th Street.
Mr. Urban moved the recommendations be adopted and
the Street Department was notified to make installations.
The motion was unanimously passed and so ordered.
Mr. Ross brought before the Board the fact that the
driveway to the City Disposal Plant was in need of repair
and the matter was transferred to the Street Department.
The attention of the Board was brought to the bad
place in the sidewalk adjacent to the 4th Street entrance
of the Courthouse. The City Attorney was instructed to
servcI$ notice on the County to repair same.
A letter was read to the Board from the School City
of Richmond dated Tune 26, 1941, notifying the City of
the desire of the School City to renew and continue the
contract for occupancy and use of Civic Hall as a part
of the senior high school plant from the year August 1st,
1941, to July 31st, 1942.
After allowing claims in the amoun of $2,984. 54
on proper motion the Board adjourn ,d.
