Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board Friday, Tune- 6th , 1941, at 9 :00 A. M. Messrs. S. `W. Hodgin, `:ainfield Urban and Earl Keisker being present the foll- owing proceedings were had to-wit ; The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved after a correction,resinding the previous action by the Board which approved an app_ronrlation of 3500.00 to the American Legion Band for at:'least_ o. cohce_rts;:in the Park and on recommendation from the Mayor the matter will be referred to the New Park Board taking effect July 1st , 1941. Mr. Carl Duning was present in the interest of rent- ing a portion of the Old Morton High School for a storage room, the matter being taken under advisement by the Board. A request to rent a portion of the Old To Orton High- school for evangelistical services was rejected by the Board . Fire Chief Harry Williams recommended that Lennie Cook be approved as a regular fireman and his salary be increased to $150. 00 dollars per month , he having served the necessary. probation period, the same to take effect June 1st ' 1941. The Board approved the recommendation of the Fire Chief. A proposal was presented to the Board to clean the Flood Lights at the Soft Ball Diamonds in Clear Creek was referred to Park Superintendent Frisby. The Board ordered a reflector sign be placed at the intersection of West Main Street and Easthaven Avenue. A report of the bad condition .of the curb in front of Clevengers Neat Market on Richmond Avenue was referred to the Street Department. The Clerk was instructed to notify the Pennsylvania Rail Road of the rough condition of the old brick side- walk along their property on the North side .of E Street from North 8th Street to the Depot. A report was presented to the Board in regard to trash being burned by the Cabnet Co. near Northwest 5th and J Streets . A petition was pr-aeu.ted requesting a two hour parking limit be established on North 8th Street from D to Elm Street on the East side of the street. The matter was referred to the Traffic Division and approved/ the proper signs to be installed by the Street Department. ( contdt) 6DbJd An estimate cost of 180,00 for installing the Traffic Light at 12th & J--E` - Street which had been removed from 16th & Lain: Streets was reported by Mr. Stevens Light Plant Superintendent. An estimate cost of $10.00 for removing an Orn- mental Light Post in front of the New State Theatre was reported by Mr. Stevens and the Board recommended that this amount be paid by the property owner Mr.Rb- I/ bert Hudson, if the Post is removed. hr. Stevens also presented plans for the install- ation of Ornamental Lights on Northwest Sth : loth" : llth Streets, from Main to Peacock Road ; Northwest A from 8th to 10th, Northwest B from 8th to llth, and Northwest C from 8th to 16th estimating the type Light Post used in 1tavinia Park at at $11,920 or the type post used on South- west G Street at :f12, 538.00 as a total for the installa- tion, the annual cost to the Civil City for operation was estimated at $1,260.00. • The Board approved a new roof for the Community house in Glen Miller Park at an estimate sum of not over 120.00 Dollars.
