The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City. of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board Friday May 29th, 1941 at 9 :00 A. M. Messrs. S. W. Hodgin, Winfield Urban and Earl Keisker being present the following proceed- ings were had to-wit ; The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved. I/ The Board rejected the request for the installation of a water Main on South 12th Street from H to J Street . The Board adopted the following Declaratory Resolution No. 5-1941 as follows; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDI?NA`, TFAT IT IS DESIRED AND DEEMED NECESSARY TO VACATE POOL STREET, in the City of Richmond, County of Wayne, and State of Indiana, which street proposed to be vacated is more particularly des- cribed as follows, to-wit; Beginning at anoint on. the South line of Pool Street, where the `said South line: intersects the East line of Ft- Wayne Avenue; thence running Eastwardly along the South line of Pool Street, to the West line of North loth Str- eet ; thence Northwestwardly along the West line of North 10th Street Twenty-Five (25' ) feet more or less to the Southeast corner of Tract 102, Official Map of the City of Richmond, Indiana; thence westwardly along the South line of Tract 102, Official Map, to a point where the South , line of said Tract 1o2, intersects the East line, of' Ft- Wayne Avenue; thence in a Southwestwardly direction along the East line of Ft-Wayne Avenue to the place of beginning. The City of Richmond, Indiana, reserves the right to maintain the present Sewer now located in pool Street , from Ft-Wayne Avenue to North 10th Street. All as shown by a plat of such proposed vacation now on file in the office of the Department of Public Works of said City. The property which may be injuriously or beneficially affected in the said City of Richmond by said proposed vacat- ion is known and described es the street herein proposed to be vacated and the lots abutting on the street and both sides thereof, owned by Sam Faffe Tract 102 Official Map of the City of Richmond, Indiana, on the North side of said street, also Lot' s L, 2, 3, 4, & 5, Waldrons' & Pitmans' I/ Addition on the South side. The Board ordered the proper :publication of the said resolution and designated Friday,.June the 13th,1941, at 9 :30 O' clock P.K.. _ at its office for the receivi .g of any remons- trances or objections to the vacation of the said street. , ( cont 'd ) 221 A letter was presented to the Board signed by Fred W. Diederich Mgr.- of the American Legion Band as follows ; Gentlemen; In behalf of the American Legion Band,, I wish to extend the services of the Band to the City of Richmond for at least six concerts during the summer' season,andi.in-turn petition for the $500.00 which we believe to be alloted for this purpose, such funds then to be used by the Band Organization in defraying its expenses to the Annual American. Legion Convention. The Board- approved-the appropriation reouested: by the American Legion- Band for°_at Tea• t six concerts. On recommendation of the Chief of Police Duck- ett ,the Board approved an increase in the salary of. Irvin Housman Detective of the Police Department in the amount of $5..00 per month, the same being already provided for in the Budget. A previous request by Loren Grimm a member of the State Police Department to install a two-way Radio set in his car for contact with the local fiolice Dept. , was referred to Police Chief Ellis Duckett for his approval.
