FRIDAY, APPRIL 18TH, 1941.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the city of
Richmond,Indiana, met in the office of said Board
Friday, April 18th, 1941, at 9 :00 A. M. Messrs. S. W. Hod-
gin, Winfield Urban and Earl Keisker being present, the
following proceediings were had to-wit ;
The minutes of the preceeding meeting was read and
approved.
A request by Kemper Bros. Inc. operating a factory ;:
located at North 15th and $'n Streets ,to erect a loading
platform in .a portion of an unused alley east of their
factory was approved by the Board, subject to revocation
bycthe said, Board when ever necessary.
Mr. Oliver E. Thomas address .at, .1725 West Main Street
was present requesting the Board to take some action in
regard to several old cars being parked on a lot located
east of the Filling Station at West• Main and Etpthaven
Avenue, the matter being taken under advisement.
Yr. ..Walter. Davis was present requesting the installation
of Traffic Signal Lights eb 'installed at North 12th and E
Streets, the same being underadvisement by Traffic Depart-
ment on previous request.
Mr. Frisby Park Supt. reported the. Base Ball Diamonds
On Dennis School Grounds had been changed in order to take
care of damage to properties near by.
The Board ordered the light globes be replaced at the
Soft Ball Diamonds in Clear._ Creek Park.
The Board ordered an investigation be made in regard to
installing Traffic Contrail during fire runs on the lights
now being installed by the State Highway Department at
Worth D Street and Fort Wayne Ave. also at East Main and
16th Streets.
"r. Lreorge Brehm was present in the interest of obtain-
ing the Base Ball Park for a team under the management of
Bob DuGranrut the Board took his proposal under advise-
ment,
I/ Street Superintendent Hart reported the traffic signs
were ready for installation on hitewater Boulevard.
Fire Chief Harry Williams stated' if the ornamental
lights were installed on Northwest 10th St.it would be
advisable to install a Fire Alarm Box at Northwest 10th
and B Streets.

`r" { The Board ordered that an investigation be made in
regard to installing Traffic Controll over the Ti .Signals
in case of Fire runs which are now being installed at
Fort iilayne Avenue & North D. Streets, also at East Main
and 16th Streets, by the State Highway Department.
Petitions requesting the installation of Ornamental
Lights on Northwest 8thStreet from West Main to Northwest
B Street and Northwest 10th Street from West Main to
Peacock Road was presented to the Board with the signatures
of seventeen affected citizens, the same was referred to the
Light Plant Officers for a report later to the Board.
A petition requesting the installation of a light at
the intersection of Southwest second and G Streets was
approved by the Board, the same being signed by ten affec-
ted citizens, and recommended by Mayor John R. Britten.
A complain was presented to the Board in regard to the
parking of cars in the alley North of South A. Street
between 6th and 7th Streets, the same being referred to
the Traffic Division.
The Board extended the contract with Olive H. Thomp-
son for an indefinite period far the privilege of placing
trash containers on the vareus curbs F-s now occupied, the
Board retaining the right to revoke the said privileges
at any time upon a ten days written notice either delivered
in person or Registered Mail. Res. Book G Page 98
The Boar4 approve the rraising of the roof of the Grease
House by adding cement blocks :--= -to prevent the rocks from
the hillside sliding down damaging the same, at Sewer Dispos-
al Plant.
The Board ordered the proper legal advertising be made
for bids on the consessions ?t the various Parks in the City,
bids and proposals to be: accepted by the Board at its office
Friday May 2nd, 1941, at 9 :30 o' clock.
Citizens living in the Bealview Addition were present
in the interest of having a Sanitary Sewer installed form
South 8th to South 4th St. The Matter was referred to the
City Engineer for a report on the estimate.
Friday Aril 18th, 1941, being the date designated by
the Board as the date for the receiving of bids for the
various street Material for the year 1941, the bids were
as follows;

The Bids were referred to the Board as a whole
for tabulation and after the bids were tabulated the
awards were made as follows;
The E. A. Mariani Co. was awarded the contract for
furnishing Bituminous Material by Power distributor
for the sum of .1068 per gallon,on low bid.
'.° . L. 1 'a.gaw was awarded the contract for furnishing
Bituminous Coated°Agregate . applied for the sum of
p7 .50 per ton or 5. 50 per ton F. O.B. Plant, also for
furnishing Bituminous material in drum lots F. O.B. Plant
for the sum of .11 cents per gallon.
The Debolt Concerete Co. and the Ammerican Aggregates
Corp. were awarded the contracts for furnishing the Agg-
regates the same to be purchased where it would most ad-
vantageous for the Street Depattment when used9 as per
bid presented.
After allowing claims in the amount of $4,880.19
on proper motion they adjourned.
