The Board di Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board Friday, April 4th, 1941, at 9 :00 A. M. Messrs... .S. W. Hodgin, Winfield Urban and Earl Keisker being- present the following proceedings were had tp-wit; The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read andI/ approved. Mr. Howard Clark was present in the interest of=rent- ing tUe Municipal Base Ball Park for taniture Auto Rac- ing, and other amusements. The Board took the matter under advisement. Mr. Russell Bennett was granted permission to use a part of an unimproved street between South Perry and M Street for garden purposes, he to accept anS damages which might occure to the garden. Mr. L. H. Overton was present in the interest of the distruction of a portion of the stone entrance to Ravinia Park Addition near his residence located at 3041 East Main street, stating the damage had been done by truck operated by a local trucking Co. Mr. Earl Keisker City Attorney stated it was no obligation of the City's and recommended it be taken up with the Trucking Co. and their Insurance Co. V Fire nbief Harry Williams recommended in disposing of the old Aerial Fire Truck that the Fire Dep«rtment retain ladders and any other equipment which they could -use,and any remaining parts of the truck be used by other depart- ments of the City or sold for junk. The Board approved the recommendation of the Fire Chief. • Park Superintendent Frisby was ,ordered to purchase the necessary shrube 'y for the center parkway in Whitewater Boulevard. Street Superintendent Charles Hart reported a e number of broken inlets over sewers could be traded'.in:-to . some foundrys at a good advantage as the price of such material had increased considerable and credit could be received forI/ . the same on new material. The Board approved the recommendg_' tionand ordered the same. The Board ordered that the proper specifications for the V Street Material be prepared and the proper legal advertising made for the same,designating April 18th, 1941,at 9 :30 A. tf. at its office as the time and the place for the receiving of bids for such material. ( contd ) • The Richmond Fire and Casualty Insuarnce Association presented a report on the survey they had made on the various department buildings of the City, the matter being referred to the departments. The Board approved the assessment roll for. the City' s share o.f installing the lights on Whitewater Boulevard in the amount of 01, 775.28 according to the previous 11/ agreement with the School Board. Book No. 4 Assnaent.Page 268. °' \ The Board ordered the specifications for street material be prepared and the proper legal advertising be made for the same, designating April 18th, 1941,at 9 :3.0 .O` clock as the day and the date at its office for the receiving of bids for the same. A letter-from the State Highway Commission was pres- ented referring to the Crossing Signals to be installed at Northwest Fifth Street by the Pennsylvania Rail Road, stating as this is a multiple track crossing the State Highway Commission will not approve the installation of the electrically operated flashing light, signals only, but we will aprove flashing light signals when operated lnd used in conjunction with electrically operated short arm gates. The Pennsylvania Rail Road is .aware::of our • position in this respect and I am sure that they will co-operate with our desires in the matter.
