The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday,. March. 21st , 1941, at 9 :00 A. M. Messrs S. W. Hodgin, Winfield Urban and Earl Keisker being present the following proceedings were had to-wit ; The minutes of the preceeding meeting were reed _. and approved. The Building Inspector was ordered to inspect the cornice on the tower at- the City Building and repair • if necessary. The Board approved the tradein allowance on a Siren for Fire Truck at No. 4 Hose House. The Board ordered the drinking fountain to be removed at South .:5th and C Streets also Water Co. to be notified to remove the meter. . The ,Board- instructed Park Superintendent Joseph Frisby to place flower boxes along the railing of Main Street bridge and secure them to the railing. The Pennsylvania Rail Road was granted permission by the Board to change the crossing gates at Northwest fifth Street to electrical operated crossing signals the same to • be approved by the State Highway Department for flasher lights. The Pennsylvania Rail Road officials verb also to be _ notified of the bad condition of their street crossings at various places' in the City. A petition was presented to the Board requesting a parking zone be established on the North side of South • ' B Street from South 2nd Street to the first alley east for the Purpose of relieving the traffic situation cr- eated by the heavy truck tragfie at that location. The petition was signed by the following affected citizens. David W. 0berle and Richard, Zurwell. The Street Commissioner Mr. Hart was instructed by ' the Board to locate new places for City dumps and to secure permission for such. - A letter was presented, to the Board from the City the Market Master requesting higher day rates be established for the inside and outside stalls as t] e 'prices-now`=iri " ''- . • effect does not differ from the yearly renter. ,The ( cont' d) 199 Board approved the following reates for daily rentals ; That the outside stalls be rented for one dollar per day and the inside stalls be rented for one dollar and Fifty-f44itry cents per day, :there being no change in the . price of the yearly rentals,effective June 10th, 1941. .------ A request to cut the Curb was granted to E. L. Camp- bell no. 3004 National Road West to a width of 15 ft. A letter was presented to the Board from theRailway _i . Express Agency Inc. calling: attention to their new lo- cation at 20 North 9th St. and requesting a parking zone be established in front of the said location for the purpose- of their patrons loading and unloading packages. The matter was referred to the Traffic Division for a report. A complaint from the number of stray dogs in the City having been referred to the Board of Public Works and Safety from Council was taken under advisrent.
