HomeMy Public PortalAbout01-10-1941 181 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS CITY OF RICHLOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY T ANU°uRY 10,19 41 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond Indiana, met in the ofrice of said Board Friday January 10, 1941, at 9 :00 A. M. Messrs . Simeon W. Hodgin and Earl Keisker being present the following proceedings were had to-wit ; `1he minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved. ,=r. Irvin Stegall was present in the interest of the installation of a Sewer at South 6 and r1 Streets . A petition was presented signed by seventeen citizens and property owners requesting Ornamental Lights be installed on 1orthwest A Street in Peacock Terrace Addition from Northwest 8th to Northwest 10th Streets. The Board approved Fi preliminary Resolution app- roving the installation of the lights as rec?uested, a hearing to be held January 3:l,th 1941. :he Board ordered that a .street Light be installed at 23 and Reevston Road near the Bus Stop. The Board ordered light installed in the island to bu located at North Seventh 'btreet and Fort Wayne Avenue. City Clerk Lester E. Meadows was appointed as Clerk of the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, by Mayor Kohn R. Britten as required by law in Cities of the Second Class , which has been declared as such, by the following i'roclamation ; PROCLAMATION TO WHOM IT 1.'_1Y CONCERN, GREETINGS ; By- virtue of the power vested in me by law as the Mayor of the City of Richmond, Indiana, and being in possession of the official 1940 census figures for the said City of Richmond , Indiana, 35,147 as announced by the United States Census Bureau located in Washington D. C. , I do hereby proclaim the said City of Richmond, Ind. , heretofore a City of the Third Class, to become a City of the Second Class , as such en- titled to all the rights, privileges and restrictions pertaining thereto , in accordance with the laws of the State of Indiana. I further order and proclaim that this change in classification shall be retroactive as of January 1st , 1941. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHBOND, INDIANA, that WHE?{EAS, the City of Richmond, Indiana, has been off= " icially notified by the United States Government this day and date that said City has an official population as of =pril 1st , 1940, of 35,147 by the official Gov- ernment Census,and rEREA�S, such official population automatically advances the classification of said City of Richmond, " Indiana, from that of a third class City to a second Class City,and r,;E r b . _ �_,�,iS, certain salary increases are available for certain Departmental heads as allowed by law and ' provided for in the Budget for 1941 for said City-of Richmond, Indiana, Now therefore be it Resolved by the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, that salary increases b"e 'a- lowed as and of January 1st , 1941 as follows ; Lire Chief, Police Chief, and Firemen, and "olicemen, all Police Radio "perators at Police Radio Station be raised Tien Dollars per month, Street Commissioner salary raised to ,;2, l.O0 . per year. Superintendent Sewage Disposal Plant salary raised to )2 ,100. per year. Park Superintendent salary raised to 81,800 per annum. Dairy Inspector salary raised to 21, 500. Per annum. The Board ordered that the Proper publication of notice be had for the hearing on the installation of lights on Northwest A Street between 8th and 10th Streets, said hearing to held in office of the Board of Public Works Tanuar 31 , 1941.
