OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 1940.
The Board. of Public Works and Safety of the City
of Richmond,. Indiana, met in the -office of said Board
Friday November 15, 1940, at 9.:00 A. M. Messrs . John
R. Britten,Simeon W. Hodgin and Henry 11. Johnson being
present the following proceedings were had to-wit ;
The reading of the minutes of the preceeding• meeting
was dispensed with.
Mr. G. C. Rosar 'and Mr. T. R. Anderson representing
the Richmond Retail Merchants Association were present
requesting permission to string wires on the various
light standards along the streets in regard to decorating
the. streets with Xmas lights. The Board approved the .string-
ing of wires on the light standards Iron 4th to 12th'.on Main' ;St.
also on North 9th Street to the Telephone Co . and in front
of Wickett' s Garage between 12th and 13th Streets. Mr. Carl
Keen Electrician in charge of the installation deposited a
Public Liability Insurance Policy to cover any liabilities
in the matter.
A petition was presented, signed by 47 citizens requesting
an Electrical Stop Light be installaed at the intersection
of South 5th and L Streets. Ai"te-r--due consideratiorthe Board
ordered two reflector Stop Signes installed on L- Street ,one'
on the northeast corner and the other on the southwest corner
of the intersection with 5th Street.
Fire Chief Barry Williams was instructed to purchase rubber •
coats for the use of the Fire department.
A letter was presented from the Richmond Water Works Corp-
oration stating they had completed the installation. of a
six-inch water main on Northwest 8th Street extenting from
West Vain north to Northwest B Street . It circulates the
existing main on Northwest B as well as the smaller main
on A Street. A new hydrant was also installed at northwest
8th and A Streets.
Fire.Chief_;Uarry:�Williams:presented_ the ,;application.'of
Linnie Cook 242 Richmond Avenue for City Fireman and ,rec-
. ommended that he be employed for a probationary period of
six months. On a motion by Johnson second by Hodgin the
application was approved and accepted unanimously. .
After allowing claims in the amo tr. on
proper motion they adjourned.
