The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office or said Board, Friday November 8, 1940 at 9 :00 A. M. Messrs.. John R. Britten Simeon W. Hodgin and Henry U. Johnson being present the following proceedings were had to-wit; The reading of the minutes of the p.receeding meeting was dispensed with. A request to cut the curb to a width of 18 feet was granted to George Scherer lot 34 & Pt 35 Earlham place Add. Fire Chief Harry Williams reported the 25 Fire Hydrants to be installed in the various parts of the City was almost completed. The Board approved the purchase of 300 feet of hose for the flushing of sewers by the Street Dep= - artment the same to include couplings. Citizens ,living in the vicinity of Oakland and P streets 'were present in the interest of the drainage near thp.t location, which was referred to City .Engineer. Mr. P. T. Ulman from the Department of Entomology also endorsed by the State Conservation Department was present in the interest of, the extermination of the Japanese Beetle. in sections of this locality. November the 8th,, being the date designated by the Board for the receiving of bids on the material for the plumbing and heating for the new pavilion in Glen Miller mark, a bid was presented as follows ; John H. Neiwoehner. . We submit herewith our bid for furnishing the plum- bing and heating materials, toilet paetitions and doors. We will furnish all materials in accordance with the Materials List , as furnished by the engineering Department and plans as prepared by Werking and Son, Architects. All materials are based ' on .the revised list , which eliminated 7 toilets, 4 lavatories, 2 urinals, and 7 toilet stalles, and using 5'rartitions with full size doors , instead of 4' 6" partitions with 2' doors and panels., For the sum of Three Thousand Three Hundred Thirty and 65/100 Dollars. $3,330.65. There being no other bid presented the Board ann- roved the bid as presented and awarded the .contract to Tohn H. Niewoehner.
