The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board Friday, Auguat 23, 1940, at 9 :00 o ' clock A. M. Messrs. John R. Britten and Henry U. Johnson being present the following proceedings were had to-wit ; The minutes of the preceeaing meeting was read and approved.. A request to cut the Curb was granted to Carl Koontz to a width of 12 feet, located at No. 12 Northwest 6th. ,. Street Pitts & Hodgin Add. . The drinking fountain was ordered turned off,located ,at 9th. , and Main Street on account of repairs. The Wayne County Republican Committee was granted permission to stretch a sign across North 9th. , Street from the Bartel Building to the Palladium Building subject to the approval of the Building Inspector. Proper legal advertising was ordered by the Board for the following m- teria .s ; Notice is hereby given by the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, that sealed . proposals will be received by it , at its office, at the hour of Ten (10 ) o' clock A. Complete plans and copies of the specifications may be seen and Bidding Blanks will be fur- nished in the office of the City Civil Engineer. The Bidders in submitting proposals to furnish said described materials, must accompany each bid with a certified check in the sum of $100.00 Dollars as evidence of good faith. Johnson Board of Public Works & Safety.. • The Board ordered that the proper legal advertising be made for bids on' a truck for the Street Department, as follows ; - Notice is hereby given by thr Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond , Indiana, that sealed proposals will be received by it at :its office at the hour of 10 o ' clock A. M. on Friday September 6th, 1940, for the following equip- ,. ment for the use of the Street department, to-wit; One (1) Motor Truck with special panel or canopy body, similar to drawing on file in the office of the City Civil Engineer. Truck to have a capacity of one (1 ) ton pay load, with tires 7 . 50/16-6 ply on all wheels and spare, and wheel base od 133 inches . Cab to be closed , with heater, and eQuiped with Police Radio Receiver. The Bidders in submitting proposals to furnish the above equipment , must accompany bid with a certified check equal to 2,14 of bid and not less than 7100 as evidence of good faith that the successful bidder will execute within ten days from acceptance of proposals, contracts and bonds satisfac- tory to said Board of Public Works and Safety of Richmond, Indiana, to furnish said equipment . A failure of the successful bidder to enter into such contracts and bonds upon the acceptance of such proposals will forfeit checks and sums of money payable thereon to the City as agreed and liquidated damages for such failure. Brubaker manager of the Winston Salem, North Carolina Baseball Club in regard to the use of the Municipal Baseball Park in the estab- lishing of a one week Base Ball School for boys between the ages of 17 and 22.
