FRIDAY, APRIL 26TH 1940
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City
of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said
Board Friday,April 26th, 1940, at 9 :00 a.! clock A•M•
.Messrs. John R. Britten, Simeon W. Hodgin and Henry
U. Johnson being present the following proceedings
were had to-wit ;

Mrs. George Smail and Mrs. Georgia Ryan were
present ,reauesting street signs,.be placed at the cor-
ner of Harris and Russell Streets ,also Streets be rep-
aired, the matter was referred to Mr. Hart the Street
Commissioner.
City Attorney Johnson reported the water from the
downspouts at the Wayne Works was causing some damages
to the alley and Streets in that location, and recom-e
mended it be given attention, the matter being referred
to City Engineer Hodgin.
City Attorney Johnson recommended the Board accept
the following proposal from the Goodyear bervice Co .
as follows ; Since we have auite a few signes in the
City of Richmond, we are wondering if the City would
not accept, for their protection, a certificate of
our public liability insurance policy which affords
protection in the amount of ` 25/100,000, the- same
being approved.
A permit was granted by the Board to C. H. Knowels
to- move a house from 808 South 7th Street to. 809 South
7th Street.

A petition to cut the curb to a width of 8feet was
granted to Robert'..C. Ritz at lots Nos. 24 and 26 South
6th Street.
April 26th being the date designated by the Board
for the receiving of bids on the various street mat-
erials for 1940, the following bids were received as
follows ;

for the receiving of bids on Trucks and Truck Bodies
the bids were as follows:

rubish collection, 12-yard capacity loose, 9-yard
capacity packed, fully hydraulic operated.
Modern, •sanitary, all Cnclosed refuse compartment ,
with hydraulic operated spring balance loading door '
with fool-proof finger tip control, rubber wiper and retainer
retainer plate to retain packed load. Body electric-
ally welded throughout, fenders and wheel houses
built in and water tight. Auxiliary tank underneath
to catck excess water. Body painted any selected
color, lettered as per requirements, lighted to com-
ply with the law, installed on any chassis of proper.

accordance with instructions . Above price includes
mounting on trucks furnished us at Oshkosh and driving
completed units overland to Richmond, if customer takes
delivery at Oshkosh without instructor there will be
a reduction of $136.00 . '

dollars $3826.00 less One Hundred and thirty-six Dollars

McCORMIC DEERING STORE
One or more D40 International 3 to chassis and Cab,
cab forward type, equipped* *ith 900-20 ten ply front
and dual rear tires ( 6) , spare rim, overload: springs,
5 speed forward transmission with extra low first
speed, and white enamel or laquer finish. The chassis
has a minimum space of 102" from back of the cab to
the center of the rear axle, and 135" on truck frame
from the back of the cab. The truck is powered by our
I.H.C. 259 cubic inch, valve in head type 6 cylinder
with replaceable cylinder sleevs. The engine.`-is equipped
with oil bath air filter and oil filter.

The Richmond Grays Baseball team ise_to,:;have
the privilege of using the. Municipal Baseball
Park when ever they have games sscheduled on
Sundays and Holidays other teams having the use
of the park when not in conflict with their.
schedule.
The Board at this time retired to tabulate the
bids convening at 1:30 P.M for further considera-
tion and report on the same.
The Board approved the Contract with the Mariani
6o.for furnishing the Street Material to be applied 11/
by Power Distributor.
the Board also approved the contract with W. L.
Maga* for furnishing Street Material in drum lots
and Bituminous Coated Aggregate.
Th.e bids on Aggregate were awarded to- the .Rioh-
riorid. Gravel Co. DeBolt Concrete Co . and American

Aggregate Corporation F. O.B. their Plants the same
to be used by the Street Department wherever the
most convenient to the location used.
The Board approved a contract with the Elgin
Corporation for furnishing two Trash Collection
Bodies for the Street !department , also one Truck
Chassis G:. :11. C. Yodel from the Chenoweth Motor Co .
and one International Truck Chassis from the
McCormic Deering Store,the same to be delivered to
Oshkosh Wis. where the bodies will be attached.
After allowing claims to the amount of $14, 007 .00
they adjourned.
