OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS
CITY OF RICHMOND,INDIANA, -
FRIDAY, APRIL 12TH, 1940.
The Board of Public Works and. Safety of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board Fri-
day April .12th, 1940 at .9 :00 o ' clock A. M. Messrs.
John R. Britten, Simeon Hodgin and Henry U. Johnson
being present the following proceedings were had to-wit ;
The minuted of the proceeding meeting were approved
as read. .
• The Board discussed the matter of disposing of the
stray dogs within the City..
A letter was presented from the State Board of Tax
Commissioners approving appropriations for the sums
of : 8,200.00 for the purchase of Equipment Andount and
: 1,000.00 for. Repair of Public Buildings Account .
The Board ordered that the proper legal advertising
be had for Street Maintenance Material for the year
1940, bids being accepted April 26th, 1940 at 10:00
o ' clock A. M.
Proper legal advertising was ordered by the Board
for the purchase of two trucks and two truck bodies
to be used by the Street Department in the collection
of Trash and Garbage, bids on each to be accepted
April 26th, 1940, at 10 :00 o 'clock A.M. with a trade in -
allowance for one Willys Knight truck known as No. 6
and one International Truck known as No. 4 now used
by the Street Department.
Mr. James Alyea local Supt. of the Indiana Railroad
System appeared before the Board 'requesting the approval
of the following changes in the various Buss routes of t
the City, the same to take effect on or about May first.
Proposed change in routing on mast Haven Line, from
8th and Main Street , west over Main Street to West Main
and lath St, them South on 10th St . to National Road,
then West over National Road to East Haven Avenue, then
north on East Haven Avenue to State Hospital, and return
over same route.
The purpose of this change is to put buss service
through the center of this residential section, instead
of using National Road where we were serving only one ' .
side. ,
Proposed addition to West Richmond Line, to operate as
usual only we would add from North West 5th and Peacock
Road, West to North West 8th St. then North to Richmond
Avenue and continue as heretofore.

The purpose of this addition is to better serve
the inhabitants in this territory, as well as the
Johns Mansville Plant .
The Board approved the proposed changes temporarily.
April 12th being the date designate for the accep-
ting of bids for the garbage collected by the City of
Richmond, the following bid was received.
We, the undersigned, propose to purchase the garbage
collected by the City of Richmond at the sum of $25.00
per month, payable on or before the 15th- day of each
month. The said garbage shall be delivered, on our farm
north of the City of Richmond .
Should this agreement prove unsatisfactory to either
party, the said agreement can be canceled by either
party by giving 60 days notice of said intention.
It shall be understood that this agreement shall not
be binding to either party should there be an injunction
or any legal proceedings by the County or State to re-
strain either party from fulling this contract .

April 12th being the date designated for the accept-
of bids for Fire Hose for the use of the Fire Depart-
ment, the following bids were received.

the General Fire Hose Co. bias and the Bi- Lateral
Fire Hose Co. Bids were not accompanied with the re-
quired Certified Check of $100.00 therefore their bids
did not receive any consideration, the rest of the bids
were referred to a Committee composed of Fire Chief
Harry Williams , Police Chief Ellis Duckett and Street
Commissioner Charles Hart, a report to be made at the
next regular meeting of the hoard April 19th.
The 12th day of April being the date designated by the
Board for the acceptance of bids on the various parks
concessions, the bids presented were as follows;

Robert W. Endsley-- 256.00
George J. -Huber 275.00
H. Humburger 240.00
The City Attorney Er. Johnson was instructed to
prepare a. contract with george J. Huber who received .' •
the award for the concessions in the parks on the
highest bid.
After allowing claims to the amount of $6,313.80 S
they adjourned. •
