HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-22-1940 1V OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS CITY OF RICHI'IOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY, MARCH 22nd, 1940 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board Friday, March 22nd, 1940, at 9 :00 A. M. Messrs. John R. Britten, Simeon W. Hodgin and Henry U. Johnson. being present the following proceedings were had to- wit ; The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved. Messrs. J. Brandon Griffis , Charles Tate, Edd Harris and Andy Herlitz were present in the inter- est of obtaining a place for ameture boxing and training quarters in the City, the matter was taken under advisement . The Board ordered that , proper legal notice be given that sealed proposals will be received by it at its office at 18 :00 A. M. April 12th, 1940, for the concession privileges in the various parks of the City. Mr. Guy Bull was present in the matter of a tri- angular strip of ground owned by him at the South West corner of 5th and South A. Streets which could be purchased by the City of Richmond for the purpose of widening South A. Street, for the approximate sum of around 3750.00, the matter was referred to the City Engineer, Hodgin. At the request of Fire Chief Harry Williams, the Board ordered that the proper legal notice be given, it, Would receive sealed proposals at its regular meeting at its office at 10 :00 A. M. Friday,April 12th, 1940, for 500 feet more or less of Cotton Rubber lined Fire Hose. Attention was called to the comblaints about the condition of the crossings of the Pennsylvania Rail Road at North 8th Street and North West L Street:. The Board ordered the Clerk to notify by letter the Superintendent of the local Divisions of such con- dition of the various crossings, requesting that they give their earliest consideretion in the matter. The Board approved the painting of the rooms down stairs at the Community House in Glenn Miller Park also new linoleum for t -e kitchen .
