OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS
CITY OF RICHMOND,INDIANA,
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 20TH, 1939
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City
of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of the said
Board Friday, October 20th, 1939 , at 9 :00 O'clock
A. M. Messrs. John R. Britten, Simeon W. Hodgin and
Henry U. Johnson being present the following procee-
dings were had to-wit ;
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read
and approved.
City Attorney Johnson reported the Gooding Insur-
ance Company policy covering Libility and Property
Damages for the concessions during the Fall Festival
on South 4th Street had been examined and were satis-
factory.
A letter was presented from the Richmond Water
Works Corporation, stating they had installed a six-
inch water main and Fire Hydrant on South K Street
west of South 9th Street , a total length of 158 feet,
as ordered by the Board of Public Works.
A letter was presented from the Board of Trustees
of the Town of Cambridge City, Indiana, thanking the
8fficials of the City of Richmond for their kind assi-
stance at the fire of the American Casket Company,Oct-
ober 8,1939.
The Market Master reported a claim had been filed
against the estate of William Eggelhoff, to the amount
of $75.00 for back rent at the Market House.
The Building Inspector was ordered to install a
lock on the Council Chamber door,keys to be given to
the Janotor and Police Department .
A Mr. Miller appeared before the Board requesting
the use of the Council Chamber for Adult Educational
Teaching, a W.P. A. project.
Fire Chief Harry Williams was granted permission
to attend the firemans school at Purdue University
and to take as many firemen as desire to attend.
Mr. Frank Howell called attention to the numerous

amount of rats in the City and suggested a co-opera-
tive movement should be instituted to get rid of a
part of them, this being referred to the Health Dep-
artment.
