FRIDAY, JUNE 16th, 1939 The Board of Vublic Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday, June 16th, 1939 at, 9.:00 o' clock A.M. Messrs. John R.Britten Simeon W. Hodgin and Henllr U. Johnsbn being present , the following proceedings were had to-wit ; The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved. Mr Joseph Frisby in charge of Glenn Miller Park came before the Board in regard to the condition of the Elm trees in the Parks and the City. Mayor Britten stated that there had been very much inquiry about the condition of the Elms in the City, he also stated that if spraying would eliminate the disease he would recomend the purchase of a power spray, and citizens might have the use of it at cost . • Mr. Frisby stated that a lime sulphure and arsnate of lead preper= ation *as the best remedy as yet ,but at present it was not aonsi- dered. a sure thing. He was also instructed to i.nvestigrte the pr- ice of a power spray, and report to Yr.: Hodgin. The insurance Committee was present in the interest of insura- nce for the City. Street Commissioner Burkhardt requested the purchase of a new power mower for the Parks, stating that it would expensive to repair the present equipment. The Board authorized a demonstration of power mowers. William Smith Health Inspector reported the Garbage Collection Contract was being violated, in the way of collecting, and trans- portation in the City. This was refered to Dr. George Hunt Secretary to the City Board of Health for further investigation and a later report to the Board of Works. A warning light is to be installed at 12th and North F. Street the City Engineer to get the estimate cost from the Light Plant Superintendent. The City Clerk was instructed to notify the local Coal Dealers through legal notice that the Board of Works will receive bids on coal for the City Buildings on Friday, Tune 30th, 1939 , spec- ifications being on file at the Clerks office.
