OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS AND SAFETY
CITY OF RICHMOND,INDIAN.A,
FRIDAY, JUNE 9th, 1939
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, met in the office of said Board , Friday, June 9th, 1939
at 9 :00 o ' clock A.M. Messrs John R. Britten Simeon W. Hodgin
and Henry U. Johnson being present , the following proceedings
were and to wit ;
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read in
Council.
Mr. Shoemaker Superintendent of the Richmond Water Works Corp-
oration was present in regards to a petition filed with the Board
of Works requesting a water main be constructed on Oakland Street
in Beallview Addition from South 0 to South Q Streets.
On a motion by Hodgin second by Johnson that the water main be
constructed on Oakland Street from 0 to Q street and that Fire
Hydrants be placed at P and -Q Streets, was approved.
A petition to widen the Curb at 409 Northwest 8th Street to a
width of 10 feet was approved.
Mr. Bill Moorey in charge of the Municipal Golf Course was pre-
sent in regards to insurance.
Attention was called to the Board by Mr. Moorey that golf balls
were being stolen from the players by older boys for, profit , the
Mayor stated that they could be arrested for tresspassing,the mat-
ter would be ref eyed to the -Chief of Police .
The Board also took under advisement the proposal to put signes
up near the golf greens warning of the danger of being hit by golf
balls, these signes to be placed in the most dangerous location.
The Mayor called attention to the conditions in Tenth Street Pa-
rk.
The Clerk was instructed to prepare the contracts for Stalls to L
Auctioned off at the Market House June 13th, 1939 .
Mr. John Omaley was preasenrepresenting the Merchants Associat-
ion in regard to the paving of Main Street , which is to begin soon.
Mr. Dick Kemper and Mr. William Smith Attorneys for Lon Kennedy
and T.B.Jenkins were present notifying the Board of their intent
to file suit in the Wayne Circuit Court requesting the vacation
of the alley between North 8th and North 9th Streets running No-
rth from Main to Sailor Street.
A request by the Fire Chief Harry Williams to have his car pain-
ted, was approved.
The Clerk was instructed to prepare the Coal Bids for the City
and mail a copy to each dealer, the date of acceptance to be de-
t ermined later.
The Board instructed the Street Commissioner to place . the Stop
Signe in a more visibal location at 12th and North F Street.
