CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,
FRIDAY MAY. 26th, 1939
The Board of public Works and Safety of the City of Richm-
ond , Indiana, met in the Office' of said Board, Friday May26,
1939 , at 9 :OOA.M. Messrs. John R. Britten,Simeon W. Hodgin
and Henry H. Johnson II being present , the following proceed-
ings were hsd to-wit ;
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read.
Miss Lena Hiatt representing the Spring Grove Corporation
appeared before the Board asking permission to use' the Sewege
Disposal facilities , Mr. Hodgin stated on an annual basis the
cost per capita for sewage disposal for the City was $`1.30
which would make the total cost to Spring Grove on a per capi-
ta basis a total cost of , 248.00 per year.
It was also recommended that they contact the State Board of
Health for further sugestions, no other action being- tpken.
The boiler at the Green House in Glenn Miller Park is to be
repaired by John H. Neiwoehner at an estimate cost of .p1OO. 00.
A dedication of ground was presented to the City of Richmond , , • '
by Charles G. DeBolt and Louise W. DeBolt husband and wife , the
ground being at North J.Street and Hawkins Road for street •pur-
poses, this was accepted and approved.
In making a report on a request for a light at South 6th and
0 Streets Mr. Hodgin stated that one light would not meet the
necessary needs for lighting, recommending at least 10 lights
for that district , this was refered to Yr. Hodgin and the Light
plant Superintendent.
A petition was presented ,by citizens on Oakland St .;Between 0 &
Q. Streets requesting a water main be laid, this being refered
to the RichmondWater Works.
Apetition to cut the curb to a width of 15 feet was granted
to D.L.Jennings on the 'East side of North 10 street between
North J. and the Bridge, tract 4i8 and 419 .
The Committee composed of the City Engineer,Superintendent
of Streets and the City Clerk,appointed to tabulate the bids
on Steet material made the following report , to the EA.Mar-
iani Company on low bid the bituminous material , to W.L. Ma-
gaw on low bid, ceated aggregate and material in drum lots ,
for the various classes of eggregates the prices FOB plants
were practically the same , thus recommending the purchase
from all three local bidders , the firm from which any material
is to be purchased in a specific case shall be determined in I/
each case, to the best advantage to the City, considering ha-
ul, availability and quality of material.
The Committee' s report was approved unanimous .
A request for a light to be installed at the alley intersec
tions between north 12th and 13th Streets and Main and North
A Streets. This was approved

City Controller' s request to keep a petty account to pay small _ _
bills was approved by the Mayor, the account not to exceed
50.00, no action was taken on Mr. Urbans request for a seperate
box at the Post Office. v
A request by the Hi-7 Club to use the Municipal Ball Park
for Donkey Base Ball was not approved.
The Insurance Committee were present in the interest of in-
surance for the. City.
On a motion by Johnson second by Hodgin that the O.L.T. Ins-
urance Policy carried on the Disposal Plant be canceled, was
approved.
Afted allowing claims to the amount of$ 3, 560.31 they
adjourned.
