The Board of public Works and Safety of the City of Richm- ond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday, May 19th 1939 , at 9 : 00 o ' clock A.M. Messrs . Simeon W. Hodgin and Henry U. Johnson II being present , the following proceedings were had to- wit ; The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read in council. Mr. Hodgin presented a plan of the 9 cup Roly Poly game pro- posed to be installed in Clear Creek Park, estimating the cost to be about $1,000.00. \ On a motion by Hodgin second by Johnson that M, C . Addington be permitted to install Roly Poly game in Clear Creek Park at his own expense, there being no charges permitted for the use of "same. This was approved. A letter was presented to the Board from Miss Esther Williams Secretary of the Buisiness and Professional Women's Club, of Rich- mond, stating that they had contributed a sum of money for the er- ection of e shelter house and oven in ('len Miller Park, east of the Lincoln Rock;``the roadway to this has become in a very bed con- dition to which we wish to call to your attention. This was refered 0Engineer and Street commissioner. Mr. Darrel Swisher;•asked for a light to be placed at the alley intersections betweenl 12th and 13th Streets and Main and North A. Streets . Was refered to Er. Hodgin and Light Plant Superintendent. Mr. Arthur Newkam asked permission to salvage the city dumps. This was not approved. A petition was presented with a Eroupe of citizens names on it asking for a light to be installed at the intersection of the alley and North B. Street,Bet'*een 13th and 14th Streets.This was approved. A petition to cut the curb to a width of 12 feet was granted to E.H.Gilchrist Co . in the rear of Lot 132 We, 'side of South 3rd street . . A petition to cut the Curb to a width of 22 feet was granted to Louirie F. Hinson 3353 East Main Street. City Controller Winfield Urban asked permission to have a petty cash account to nay small bills which are collected in his office, In-the amount, of 50. 00this was recommended by the Auditors of the State Board of Accounts. Which was approved, to be ap-nro'ved by the Mayor: Mr. Urban also requested a seperat'e box at the Dost Office, . This was taken under advisement . The Clerk opened and read the Bids on the material for the str- eets, for the remainder of 1939, some of the Bidders being present, the bids for the various materials were as follows ; as advertised May 3rd & 10th; 40 For furnishing and applying by Power Distributor, price bei- ng Per, gallon applied for each grade.
