OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS ARID SAFETY
CITY OF RICHMOND; INDIANA,
FRIDAY, March 3, 1939 .
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday, March 3, 1939
at 9 :00 A.M. Messrs. John R. Britten, Simeon Hodgin, and Henry
U. Johnson II being present the following proceedings were had,
to-wit :
• The Clerk read the minutes of the previous meeting wihhich were
approved.
Rev. W. D. Shannon, C. Stricel Patterson and other members of
the Bethel A. M.1. Church appeared before the Board requesting that
• the transformers placed, on . a light pole in front of the Church be
removed. They stated that it obstructed the view of the alurch as
4 well as presented an unsightly appearance. On motion by Johnson
seconded by Hodgin, the Light Plant officials were ordered to move
•
the transformers to a more satisfactory place.
A petition wa.s presented to the Board asking that a street light
be placed on North B Street at the alley intersection between 12th
and 13th streets. On proper motion b r-o. Johnson, seconded by Mr.
Hodgin, the light was ordered placed.
D. C. Stott appeared before the Board and stated that the pres-
ent location of the green on the Glen Miller ?olf Course fronting
on the National Road East and his property had created a very hazard-
ous condition. He also stated that if -the Green was moved 200 feet
west or the present tee was changed it probably would help a great
deal. The Board stated that they would investigate and take it up
with Mr. Moorey who has the present lease of the course.
Upon.°•recommendation of Mr . Hodgin, the Clerk was ordered to
advertise for bids to be received by the Board March 17th for the
quantity of re-rolling, relaying and scrap rails salvaged from the
abandonment of the Indiana Railroad through the City. This was
a motion by Mr . Hodgin, seconded by Mr. Johnson.
The Board ordered street lights to be placed on South West 9th
street between National Road and South West A Street.
Mr. Albert Burkhardt , street commissioner asked the Board to
purchase 300 feet of sewer flushing hose for the Street Department .
The Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids to be received by
the Board March 17th. This was upon motion by Mr. Hodgin seconded
by Mr. Johnson.
After the Board allowed bills amounting to ,2 + Ion
proper motion the Board adjourned.
