M. Messrs John R. Britten, Simeon Hodgin,and Henry U. ' Johnson II, being present the following proceedings were had. The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read in council. The cmmittee appointed by the Board to make recommendations asto the purchase of a truck 'or the Street Department, recom- mended the purchase of an International truck with (8) foot Anthony body at a net cost of 1, 074. 73. On motion by 3ohnson second by Hodgin the committee' s report was excepted and approved. The Board disscussed the adviseability of using a chemical to to soften the water in the boiler at the City Building. On motion by Johnson second by Hodgin that they-purchase a trial order from the Mid-West Chemical Company, was approved. A request from the Gulf Filling Station at south 9th and E. street was presented to the Board, asking that the stop light coming from the east be moved back (75) feet east so that the customers coming from the south could enter station without molestation from cars waiting for the traffic lights in front of their driveway, this change to be done at their expense. On motion by Hodgin second by Johnson, was approved. A petition from Jesse Moore was presented to the Board asking permission to cut the curb back (22 ) feet to make a wider entra- nce to the driveway at 1416 East Main street, which was granted. No bids were received on the Ball Park and the time was e:rtended until.-further notice. Miss Lena Hiatt representing Spring Grove, was present end retur: /led the agreement which had been offered them by the Board of Public Works and Safety in regard to fire protection. She stated that Mr. Sellers manager of the Indiana Inspection Bureau would not except the agreement unless certain clauses be changed to meet his approval, which the Board refused to do.
