OFFICE .OF THE BOARD OF WORKS AND SAFETY
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,
Friday, January 13, 1939 .
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,
Indiana met in the office of ' said Board, Friday, January 13, 1939
at 9 :00 A.M. Messrs. John R. Britten, Simeon W. Hodgin and Henry
U. Johnson II being present the following proceedings were had,
to-wit:
The minutes of the preceed:ing meeting were approved as read in
Council.
In a report from Mr. Hodgin he stated that the rebuilding of
the City jail would be carried out with a W. P.A. project at a cost
of about 9 ,000.00 , the cost to the Cityybeing '2,.500.00. He also
stated that the gutters on the City Building, should be repaired at
once. This was approved and referred to the Building TnsDector.
Further discussion by the Board was had in regards to other
W.P.A. projects in the form of an approval, namely: the West Fork
Boulevard Bridge at a cost of 433,000. 00 , the City' s share to be
$7,000.00 including the steel now on hated and paid for. The ware
house at the City Garage -on Carden Ave . at a cost of $19 ,000.00,
the City's share being $1 ,000.00.
On Proper motion and second the City Attorney was instructed to
arrange an ordinance to be presented to the Common Council for the
appropriations necessary for other W.P.A. projects to be undertaken
during the year.
Mr. Eadler, the Building Inspector was requested to see that the
roof of the Pavillion at Glen Miller Park be repaired and '_t .with
other small buildings, including the shelter house be -'.ven a paint-
ing at ,a total estimate of cost for material being about $135.00,
labor being done by Park employees.
On proper motion and second, the Board approved that the small
house usually occupied by a Park employee just south of the large
Pavillion be torn down and the material used for other construction
or repairs to other buildings and the fire insurance cancelled on
same.
Claims in the amount of $23,148.86 were allowed, after which the
Board adjourned.
