OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,
FRIDAY DECEMBER 30, 1938.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of the said Board,
Friday December 30, 1938, at 9 :00 o ' clock A.M. Messrs.
Joseph M. Waltermann, Simeon W. Hodgin and William Kelley,
Jr. , being present the following proceedings were had,
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved
as read.
Mr. William G. Bate, of the School City was before
the Board with the proposed contract, :,ccovering the
operation of the new Auditorium and Gymnasium, and
explained that the same was prepared as the Committee
had suggested. The Mayor then instructed the Clerk to
issue .a call for a special meeting of the Common Council,
for 5:00 o' clock this evening so that they might approve
this contract.
The Board adopted the following Resolution:
Resolved by the Board of Public Works. and Safety of the
City of Richmond, Wayne Township, Wayne County, Indiana,
That it is opposed to, objects and remonstrates against
the closing of the certain alley which runs from the
south side of Main Street, between South 6th and South
7th Streets, within said City, as proposed and prayed
for in a certain action heretofore filed in the Wayne
Circuit Court, Wayne County, Indiana, same being Cause
No. 29360 therein, and entitled Stuart J. Beebe et .al.
vs City of Richmond, and that said action is without merit
and should be vigorously opposed for the public benefit
by said defendant city, and that the City Attorney be
and lie is' instructed to file answer to said action
opposing same, and setting forth all objections thereto, •' •
and to appear and defend` said action and that he prepare
and file in said court Mot ion for Change of Venue from
Wayne County, Indiana, and perform.all services in
connection with same.
The `vote on the adoption of the above Resolution was
'Ayes:, Messrs. Waltermann and Kelley.
Nayes. Mr. 'Hodgin._
There being no: further business to come before the•
Board it adjourned.
