The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Rich- mond, Indiana, met in the Council Chamber in the City Hall pursuant to written notice for the purpose of receiving bids. Messrs. Joseph M. Waltermann , Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. being present to represent the Board, together with repre- sentatives of P. W. Walterman then appointed Leonard Hamilton, Architect for the Auditorium Gymnasium, Simeon W. Hodgin, City Engineer; 0. C. Ball and George E. Hoagland, PWA representa- tives, as a Committee to tabulate the bids. The Board then recessed subject to call of the Mayor when the above Committee reported. The Committee being ready to report at 3:45 P. M. , the Board reconvened and after hearing the report and recommenda- tions of the Committee did then adopt the following resolu- tion : is RICHMOND, INDIANA. RESOLUTION No. 2-1938 AWARD OF CONTRACTS FOR AUDITORIUM-GYMNASIUM-- DOCKET IND. NO. 1401-F WHEREAS the City of Richmond, of Wayne County, State of Indiana pursuant to an advertisement for bids on the construction of the proposed Auditorium-Gymnasium, heretofore published on the 14th day of September, 1938. did on the 5th day of October, 1938, at 2 :00 P. M. at its office in the City of Richmond , Indiana, receive bids for the construction of an Auditorium- Gymnasium, which said bids were taken under advise- ment by the Board of Public Works and Safety; and WHEREAS the base bid of the Henke Construction Com- pany, for general work, when reduced by the alter- nates Nos. 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, is the lowest bid submitted by a responsible bidder; and WHEREAS the base bid of Freyn Bros. , for heating , ventilation and temperature regulation is the lowest bid submitted by any responsible bidder, and WHEREAS the base bid of Tibbetts Plumbing and Heat- ing Company, for plumbing and sewers is the lowest bid submitted by any responsible bidder; and WHEREAS the bid of Beltzhoover Electric Company, for electrical work, when reduced by alternate No. 3, is the lowest bid submitted by any responsible bidder; GENERAL WORK Base Bid Henke Construction Co. y 169,426 Less Alternate No. 1 1,200 Less Alternate No. 2 800 Less Alternate No. 4 200 Less Alternate No. 5 2,000 Less Alternate No. 6 1,900 6,100 Net Amount of Bid 163, 326 $163,326 471 HEATING, VENTILATION & TEMPERATURE REGULATION Freyn Bros. $25,915 25,915 PLUMBING AND SEWERS Tibbetts Plumbing & Heating Company 16,000 16,000 ELECTRICAL WORK Beltzhoover Elect. That these awards shall not be effective until the awardees have been notified in writing by the Clerk of the Board of Public Works and Safety of the award of the pertinent contract. 472 The resolution was adopted by unanimous vote of the Board, all three members being present.
