OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,
FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 16, 1938.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of the said Board,
I/ Friday September 16, 1938, at 9 :00 o' clock A.M. Messrs.
Joseph M. Walt ermann, and William Kelley, Tr. , being
present, the following proceedings were had , to-wit :
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved
as read.
City Attorney Kelly reported that the attorney for
the insurance company was busy on a case in southern
Indiana at this time but would arrange for a meeting at
a later date.
Superintendent of Streets Burkhardt reported that
Jonathan Ryan had damaged his tires on his car, and
that said damage was due to street repair of tracks,
and that Yr. Ryan had presented a bill for dama'es
in the amount of $13.00. The Board allowed this claim.
Fire Chief Harry Williams reported that he needed
some fire alarm wire and that the amount would run
over x100.00 and asked the permission of the Board to
purchase this wire in two orders, in order to save the
cost of advertising for bids. The Board granted this
permission.
A communication was received from Yr. Kennicot of the
PWA stating that there must be some mhanges in the
specifications as to brick to be used on the new
auditorium. These changes were approved by the Board.
Mr. Bate was before the Board relative to the closing
of SW 1st street during working hours on the new senior
high school, and stated that some people were objecting
to and removing the barriers. The Board decided that
since these barriers were placed there for the safety
of the children, that any one removing these during the
hours prescribed should be arrested .
Fire Chief Harry Williams was granted permission to
attend the Fire Chiefs Convention at New Orleans Sep.
27-28-29 & 30.
Claims to the amount of $7,003.30 after which the ,Board
adjourned.
