OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,
FRIDAY SEPTEMB , 9 , 1938.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of the said Board,
Friday September 9, 1938, at 9 :00 o' clock A.M. Messrs.
Toseph M. Waltermann, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley,
sr. , being present the following proceedings were
had, to-wit :
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved
as read.
A letter was presented by the City Engineer from Mr.
F. M. Logan, Regional Engineer of W.P.A. advising that
Mr. Bennett Kay had been appointed as Engineer Inspector
on the auditorium job, and requesting that Mr. Kay be
furnished necessary facilities to transact business.
City Attorney Kelley advised that he had had a
conference with the attorney of the insurance company
relative to settlement of claim for personal injuries
sustained by Louis Reed, by being bitten by the bear in
Glen Miller Park. The opinion was expressed that a conferere
should be arranged between the attorney of the insurance
company and the City Attorney , on the part of the city
and Mr. Reller, representing the claimants. The City
Attorney was instructed to arrange for such a conference
and report as to the possibility of affecting a satisfactory
settlement.
Mr. Howard Dill of the Richmond Water 1°forks was
present and discussed the arrangement of the water lines
and hydrants in the vicinity of the new Senior Hdgh
School. After considering the needs and upon the recomm-
endation of the Fire Chief, it was ordered by unanimous
vote, that the lines and hydrants be installed as follows :
8 inch main in SW "E" street from SWLlst to SW 2nd and
thence south on the Abington Pike approximately 1500
feet to the new south corporation line.
6 inch main in SW "E" street from SW 1st to Whitewater
Boulevard.
6 inch main connecting line in SW "E" street from SW 2nd
to the present line in SW 3rd Street.
Hydrant at SW "E" and the Whitewater Boulevard.
Hydrant at SW "E" and SW 2nd Street
Hydrant at SW "G" and the Abington Pike
Hydrant in the Abington Pike near the new south
corporation line.

Mr. George Zuttermeister appeared before the Board
stating that he had not been able to break even in
handling the concession at the Municipal Ball Park,
and asked that his fee be reduced from $6.00 per week
to $ 3.00 per week, as he had been forced to lose that
amount. On motion of Mr. Kelley with proper second, I/
since Mr. Zuttermeister had been the only bidder,
it was agreed to make this reduction in the weekly
payment.
Claims to the amount of $10,646.81 were allowed
after which the Board adjourned.
