OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,
MONDAY AUGUST 29, 1938.
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in special
session Monday. August 29, 1938, at 2 :00 o' clock P.M.
for the purpose of receiving bids for the excavation
for the Public Auditorium-Gymnasium. Messrs. Toseph M.
Waltermann, Simeon W. Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. ,
being present the following proceedings were had, to-wit :
The following bids were received :

These bids were tabulated, after which the following
Resolution was adopted :
RESOLUTION NO. 1-1938.
WHEREAS the City of Richmond, Wayne County, State of Indiana,
pursuant to an advertisement for bids on the excavation for
the proposed Public Auditorium-Gymnasium, herebefore published
on the 6th day of August, 1938, did on the 29th day of August ,
1938, at 2 :00 o ' clock P. R . at its office in the City of
Richmond, Indiana, received bids for the excavation for the
Public Auditorium-Gymnasium,, which said bids were taken under
advisement by the Board of Public Works and Safety; and
WHEREAS the base bid of E. A. Mariani Co. Inc. , for general
work is the lowest bid submitted by any responsible bidder; and
Funds Available-Government Grant $103,000. 00
Applicants Funds 127,000.00
NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHYOND, INDL.NA:
That the contract for General fork in excavating
for the Public Auditorium-Gymnasium in the amount of $2 ,781.42
be awarded to the E. A. Mariani Co. Inc. , .
That this award shall not be effective until the
awardee has been notified in writing by the Secretary of the
Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,

Indiana, of the award of the pertinent contract .
The Resolution was adopted by a unanimous vote of
the Board.
There' bei.ng no further business to come before the
Board , it adjourned.
