HomeMy Public PortalAbout07-29-1938 452 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY JULY 29, 1938. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of the said Board , Friday July 29, 1938, at 9 :00 o' clock A.M. Messrs. Joseph M. Waltermann, Simeon W. Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. , being present , the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read. The Committee on the Garbage Contract , composed of Mr. Hodgin, Mr. Burkhardt and the City Clerk, recommended that the contract for the collection of garbage for a four year period, commencing January 1, 1939 , be awarded to Thollie Druley, the low bidder for the sum of $31,000.00 for the four year term. The Board approved this recommendation and awarded the contract to Thollie Druley. A request for a light on Southwest llth Street between Main and National Road was referred to the Board for investigation. A water bill in the amount of $7 . 50 for the W. P.A. Recreational Headquarters was ordered paid. The Board adopted Declaratory Resolution No. 272-1938, providing for the vacation of a part of Southwest D, E and F Streets, such vacation being requested by the School City as a part of the High School project, and set the date of August 19, 1936, at 10 :00 A. M. for the hearing of any remonstrances, the said Resolutiofl being adopted with the understanding that the School City assume any expenses connected with the said vacation. The Clerk was instructed to place the proper legal advertisement for the leasing of the Golf Course,. and the set the date of Friday August 12, 1938, at the hour of 10 :00 o ' clock A.M. for the opening of bids. Mr. Hamilton, the architect for the Auditorium, wrote the Board and stated that he thought that contracts for I/ excavating should be let so that the City could get the work started under the time limit set by the Government. The Board felt that such action should be delayed until after the time set by law for the filing of remonstrances. Claims to the amount of $2212.86 were allowed after which the Board adjourned.
