OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,
FRIDAY JUNE 17 , 1938.
The Board of Pixblic Works and Safety of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of the said Board ,
Friday June 17 , 1938, at 9 :00 o' clock. Messrs. Joseph
M. Waltermann, Simeon W. Hodgin and William Kelley, Tr. ,
being prsent the following proceedings were had, to-wit :
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved
as read .
Permission to change the grade line of the curb at
613 South A Street was granted Mr. Aughe, with the
proviso that this work be done subject to the approval
of the City Engineer. Permission to cut the curb a
distance of 301: was granted the Standard Oil Company
on the llth Street side of their present station at
llth and Main Streets.
The Board ordered a fire hydrant moved at the corner
of Northwest 5th and F Streets.
The Board approved the changing of the description
contained in the deed between the Belden Company and the
City of Richmond, so as to provide for the transfer of a .tr
strip of ground 19' wide from Harris Street to the
Williamsburgh Pike back to the Belden Company.
The Board approved the condemnation of the old tar
shed on North 2nd Street and the use of this ground by
the Light Plant.
The. Clerk reported that Market Stalls auctioned off
brought the price of $663.00.
The Fire Chief reported that the new aerial truck
had been returned from the factory in as good condition
as when it was purchased.
The Board gave final approval to Declaratory Resolution
No. 271-1938.
The following bids for coal were received :

The Mayor appointed City Engineer Hodgin, Fire Chief Williams
Superintendent of Streets Burkhardt and City Clerk Salters
to make the awards on these bids.
The Committee after analyzing the bids, made the following
awards :

150 Tons W. Va. Nut & Slack (Winefred Seam) delivered in
basement of City Building 04.56 per ton.
Sam Jaffe Coal Co .
100 Tons more or less Pocahontas Mine Run delivered to Nos.
2 , 3, 4 & 5 Hose Houses $ 5.30 per ton.
Muff Coal Co.
60 Tons more or less Straight Pocahontas Mine Run delivered
to Glen Miller Park $5.33 per ton.
Sam Jaffe Company.
30 Tons more or less Pocahontas Mine Run delivered to the
Street Department Garage 45. 50 per ton
15 Tons more or less Kentucky Block delivered to dwellings
in Olen Miller Park $5.50 per ton
