HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-02-1938 442 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY JUNE 3, 1938. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of the said- Board, Friday June 3., 1938, at 9 :00 o ' clock A.M. Messrs. Joseph Y. Waltermann and Simeon Hodgin being present , the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read. A discussion was had as to method to be used in disposing of the telephone poles which were being removed from the old street car lines, and it was decided that said poles should be appraised at so much Per pole, and the sale of the same authorized at the appraised figure. A complaint was made of a drain running into the street near south 23rd and E Streets, and that waste water was coming from this drain, Mr. Kutter reported that this complaint had been investigated and the owners were going, to tap in the new sewer now being built in this section of the city, and that the owner had told them that they had a septic tank in the rear. The Board ordered this practice of running waste water into the street stopped. Henry Bowen owner of a feed store on South 7th Street was before the Board with a request for yellow curb in front of his store. This was denied since such a location was not covered by the Traffic Ordinance. The Board ordered the City Controller' s office to be kept open Saturday afternoons during the month of June. Market Vaster Carl Kutter was before the Board in regards to the prices charged for market stalls and stated that we were loseing quite a" f ew customers and that he suggested that we lower the rent to $50.00 for inside stands, and 25 - 20 & 10 for outside stands. The Board adopted this suggestion. Claims to the amount of $1,268.94 were allowed after which the Board adjourned. Mayor. Attest : City Clerk.
