Audit Committee Meeting
Minutes
March 13, 2013
The meeting was held in the Old School Building starting at 5:02 pm.
Present were:
Committee members: Chairman Dick Smith, Frank Kelly, Rob Callahan, John Brannigin
and Bill Blakey. City Council Audit Liaison: Tom Grover. City Finance Director:
Angela Hudson. City Council members: Barry Brown, Jan Fox and Bill Garbett. Baird
& Co. (City of Tybee Island outside audit firm) representatives Butch Widdon and
Connie Gamble. City Manager: Diane Schleicher. Financial consultant to the city: Steve
Garber.
The minutes of the January 23, 2013 meeting were approved.
There was a review of the current timetable for getting the audit finished.
Steve Garber reviewed the accounting for the RV Park Fund and noted that it would now
be moved from the General Fund and treated as an Enterprise Fund. Steve will provide
all the entries to make this happen.
There was a general discussion of why we seem to have the same kind of problems (50
entries at year end) every year. The conclusion was that staff supervision and training
had to be looked at.
There was a discussion of what kind of opinion Baird would issue on the 2012 financials.
The conclusion was that the opinion would be a standard opinion with no exceptions.
Concern was expressed that with the timing as tight as it now was would the city be able
to finish getting the audit done and also getting the 2013 budget prepared.
The Committee elected the following members as officers for the new year: Chairman -
Dick Smith, Vice Chairman - Nancy Frankenhauser and Secretary - Sarah Lacombe.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:20 pm.
