HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-06-1938 433 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY MAY 6, 1938. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of the said Board, Friday May 6, 1937, at 9 :00 o ' clock A.M. Messrs. Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. , being present the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read in Council. Mrs. Hubbard of the WPA Adult Education Project was . before the Board seeking permission to block of the end of either North 16th or 17th Streets on the night of Monday May 9, 1938. The Board desired to consult with the Chiefs of the Police and Fire Department before granting this request. Permission was asked of the Board to place one of the old city street cars at the end of Ross Street. This was denied. Walter Bass was before the Board relative to the concess- ion in Glen Miller Park and offered to pay the City 10% of the gross receipts. The Board decided to investigate the cost of repairing the pavilion and then give Mr. Bass an answer to his proposition on Monday May 9, 1938. Mr. Alyea of the Indiana Railway Co, was before the Board with a petition to change one of the bus routes which started at North 20th and D Streets. The Board, with the understand- ing that this_ change would improve service signed this petitim for the approval of the Public Service Commission. A request for the oiling of Perry Street was referred to the Superintendent of Streets, with the recomendation that the same be done. A request for some method of controlling traffic on South 10th and A Streets during the time that church was in session on Sunday mornings was referred to the Board, and it was decided to ask the Police Department to have a man at the corners of South 10th & A and South llth & A, also North 10th & A and South llth cat A during the hours of 9 :00 a.m. until 12 :00 A. M. I/ The Board -confirmed the adoption of Resolution No. 270- 1938, vacating an alley north of Glen Court. The purchase of a rebuilt 9x10 camera by the police department was authorized at a cost of $67.. 50.
